Bangalore bookworms and bibliophiles (BBB) discussion
Introduce yourself here! (Please please please)

I love reading. My favorite genres change every few years. ..."
Which one did you like more, Atlas Shrugged or The Fountainhead? I am yet to read Ayn Rand's books.

For me its Fountainhead, it might be because it was the first time I was reading Ayn Rand. For Atlas Shrugged, I already had some expectations and it delivered well. Personally, I found Fountainhead to be more relatable and grounded to reality.

This is Rahman.
I am from Hyderabad and I read almost every genre - fiction or non-fiction.
I am part of the Bengaluru Telugu literature discussion group of IISc (Charcha group).
When in Bengaluru for a weekend, I make it a point to visit Blossoms and Bookworm for my book purchases.
Atta galatta and Sapna too if time permits.

I'm Ambuj Singh grew up and studing (M.chem) in New Delhi, Alongside with this I'm working as a Data Analyst .
I read non-fiction/self help too almost time (psychology and business books take up most of my reading time. And I recently sign up account on Goodreads it's really impressive for who Interest in reading a new books.
Thank you Dr. Aditi Sheth for inviting me this group.

I am Rohit Raut from Mumbai, Maharashtra and I work as a Marketer and Designer. First of all, I would like to thank Dr. Aditi for inviting me to this group.
My Tryst with books started when I was in 6th std. We were all forced to go to our library and pick up a book and read it in a week. All of us took Goosebumps novels and that's when I fell in love with books. I read a lot of them in a year and I started my book reading journey with Horror fiction.
Fast forward to 2011, I bought a new iPad and installed a sherlock holmes app and I read all 9 Sherlock Holmes novels in a year. It was an amazing experience. Next year I joined Goodreads and started my Goodreads journey too. Can't believe that it's been a decade over here! I read a dozen books that year and all were pure fiction!
A few years later I started to develop an interest in current affairs, politics, and history. Hence in the last 5 years, I have almost read all non-fiction books, mostly history and a few on politics. I hope to read more books this year especially of self help and ones related to study and business apart from my hobby reading of politics and history. See you around...

I am a big fan of the horror genre - books and cinema. Obviously, worship Stephen King and Shirley Jackson, hence. Would love the occasional recommendation.
I also enjoy reading the occasional biographies. Agassi's 'Open', Ozzy Osbourne's 'I am Ozzy', and 'Slash' remain three of the best I've read.
I wouldn't claim to devour books, and some of the people on my GR list truly intimidate me. Haha. Then again, I make it a point to spend an hour or two with my Kindle each day.
Cheers.

I am a big fan of Romance and Historical Fiction, but usually don't mind recommendations from other genres too.
Earlier I just used to fangirl over books I read alone, but the lockdown made me crave that community feeling of obsessing and socializing over books, so here I am !
Looking forward to being a part of this group :)

1. To Kill a Mockingbird
2. The Lord of the Rings Trilogy
3. A Gentleman in Moscow
4. Man's Search for Meaning
5. Midnight's Children
Also a big fan of recent sci-fi, (Ken Liu, Ted Chang etc.)
I look forward to discussing books here with you folks! Cheers!
Hello, All,
I'm David Hight, a self-published author from South Texas, USA. I write fictional novels which tell a good story, because otherwise nobody would read them, but also woven through their pages are subtle explorations of human nature. I'm going to begin a quest to discover the same type of fiction from different parts of the world, as I feel that fiction is often used as a vehicle to say things that may not otherwise be said, granting one an insight that would not otherwise be available. Thank you to those who have provided this space, and if anyone would care to see my work, it may be accessed here: https://www.facebook.com/David-Hights... Thanks again!

I'm located in Kerala. I read almost all genres - literary, fantasy, thriller, romance, humor, non-fiction. Not a huge fan of horror for horror's sake and sci-fi.
I'm also a writer of flash fiction and children's books (picture books to MG) so I read and enjoy a lot of that too.

I have been back with books with more focus in the last 6-8 months and am reading regularly again. GR is a good place to be in, as it is inspiring to see how much everyone reads. I also like to look up different views on a book; at times after I have read a book to find different perspectives around it. I share my views on my book in GR and would be happy to hear from others on the same. Thanks all for having me here.

Same here. I too get intimidated by the amount of books some people read. Haha

Damini, a young widow, is one of the main characters in Quartet by Rabindranath Tagore. The book is also known as Chaturanga. It's a nice novella. Full of erudite and witty confabulations between the characters Damini, Swami Lilananda and the friends Sachish and Sribilash.

Ashwini here.
Thank you Dr.Aditi for the invitation.

I noticed your profile and I must say that I also haven't come across any 1 or 2 star worth books as I research the book first before selecting it. In my rating system also only 3, 4 and 5 stars exist. These days I am giving boring or DNF'd books 3 stars, 4 stars for good books with some flaws and 5 stars for fantastic books.

I am a student doing MBA from PES University Bangalore. I like to read pretty much everything which interests me, still my favourites are non-fiction though I like reading fiction. I'm also working on putting up street libraries in Dharwad and spread the joy of reading among people. I'm looking forward to some great book recommendations and interactions over reading different books.

Thanks for inviting me to this group. I am Anil, and I stay in Bangalore. I specifically love reading self-help and scifi books, but very often pick up a book that is completely a different genre and devour it. I also like posting a small writeup about every book that I read - it helps me remember what I have read.
Looking forward to interacting with this group.

I am Utsav and I am a software developer based in San Francisco bay area.
I like reading fiction - mostly novels, short stories and plays. I used to read quite a lot during high school and college years. I gave up on reading since 2018 but have restarted recently. Atlas Shrugged, Animal Farm, Picture of Dorian Gray & Pride and Prejudice are my favorites.
Happy to join a reading group!

Really excited to be a part of this group, glad I came across it!
Settled in Bangalore for the past 12 years, I'm an auditor by profession and a book lover at heart. I enjoy experimenting with different genres as I end up finding new subjects/authors/writing styles that i'm passionate about. Books to me are my happy place
Here's to never-ending TBRs, overloaded bookshelves and the magical world of reading!

I've been taking reading challenges the past 3 years and have somehow managed to achieve it. (10/12 books a year). Trying this year as well, and fingers crossed!

I'm Vijaya from Uttar Pradesh. I'm 23 year old. I'm a Post Graduate in Mathematics and currently on my way to get a Phd.
I'm an avid reader and i read pretty much anything I can get my hands on. I'm obsessed with Indian and Greek mythology.
I love to read classics but my fav genre are Thriller, Mystery and Fantasy. Sometimes I like to indulge myself in a cute romance novel.
I'm always open book recommendations.

Unlike most of members here, I'm neither from Bangalore (never been there!) nor I'm a software engineer (far from tech;-) I'm gujju girl from Rajkot!
I love reading and I don't have any favorite genre or a favorite book because; to me choosing a single favorite book is like a mother choosing her favorite child!
I don't have many people around me who read, so reading groups and book clubs are great opportunities to know what other people read and what they think about books we read.
All recommendations and discussions are welcomed.
Feel free to comment on my book reviews and let me know how those books made you feel.
Thanks Dr. Aditi for inviting me to the group!
