I recently enjoyed a famous, creepy old story, The Yellow Wallpaper with the Short Story Group. Very 'Twilight Zone' and good fun ... or is it?

Just finished How We Disappear: Novella & Stories. Each of these stories is interesting and unique, with memorable characters in settings all over the world. Tara Lynn Masih is an author worth watching.

finished the latest Louise Rick book: A Harmless Lie by Sara Blaedel. It's set in Denmark and was pretty good
I've finished House of a Thousand Eyes by Katia Lief
A four star story that begins in 1941 and ends more than 70 years later. Well-written! https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

One of my favorites, too, right up there with "Oh, Whistle, and I'll Come to You, My Lad," "The Visitor from Down Under," "Silent Snow, Secret Snow" and "Seaton's Aunt." Creepy and subtle.

I read The Maze by Nelson DeMille I rated it 3.5 stars rounded up. I read it in 2 days, despite it being 448 pages. However, his wisecracking thoughts/comments proved distracting for me.. My review https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I needed a change of pace so I read Mia P. Manansala's debut novel - a multicultural cosy mystery with a focus that would please foodies -

I shall have to look for them, Randy!
I've just read and loved
The Queen of Dirt Island
by one of my favourite authors, Donal Ryan, who captures the sound and cadence of Irish speech better than anyone I can think of. His writing is the best!

Finished Ham on Rye by Charles Bukowski. I loved it. It speaks to the misfits, the deabeats, the loners. It is about no fitting in and running away from the herd. Funny, vulgar, honest and brilliant. Must read. 5/5

Finished with Percival Everett's Erasure, in which like his The Trees, he uses dark comedy and satire to make serious observations.
Now reading No Country for Old Men by Cormac McCarthy for the group read as well as another Booker-longlisted novel, The Seven Moons of Maali Almeida by Shehan Karunatilaka. His first book, Chinaman was outstanding so I have high hopes for this one.

this book series was made into a TV series with the main character transferred from a
"close to 40, slightly overweight, not quite in shape, needs reading glasses. No Super Woman qualities, just a hard working PI. I liked that she didn’t take unnecessary chances and tried to take precautions."
to a young, slender African American woman who takes all kinds of chances.
Definitely not a mystery 😂Read
A Lady's Guide to Fortune-Hunting by Sophie IrwinReview: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
