Best apps for keeping track of books in 2021

My hubby spotted this list and shared. Has anyone used the other sites listed? What’d ya think? I’ve used or at least checked out some, but I always come back to GR.

LOL very true, I'd be lost without GR.

Sure I might remember a cover, but what's its name, what book comes next, what happened in the book????

Same. Although I have managed to keep up with BookPedia (http://bruji.com/bookpedia/), the software I've used for decades before I knew about GR. It's my backup in case I ever bail on GR.

The only one I've heard of other than GR is Library Thing and I tried it once but it didn't work for me. Not being odd, but there weren't enough pictures to make it even vaguely attractive to look at! But at this stage in the game, it's just not feasible to even consider using another, as much as I also despise a lot about this one!

My database program of choice for about 10 years or so is Calibre which I first discovered after a few years of buying PDF's (YES - and reading on my laptop!!!) through Elloras Cave and other similar publishers waaaay back in the mid 2000's. It's a great way to organise books of all formats even if you don't own a copy and I'm gobsmacked that it wasn't even mentioned on this list.

I would be lost without both GR and Calibre!

Same. I tried a few others, but have always defaulted to GR. It's my book home, for better or worse, at this point.

I use Calibre too, and started for the same reason :D But, since I track my books in BookPedia, I don't use Calibre to its fullest potential. It's a great app though.

I still check my series once or twice a year on the site that Rick made: http://seriestbr.com/
but GR is my go-to, I would be lost without :D

I started checking out StoryGraph when it was first released in Beta but whilst it has lots of good things we are missing here like the stats/graphs and the half/even quarter star ratings, there's a lot that just isn't for me - I'm not keen on all the mood/pace stuff and that I can't turn those settings off I prefer being able to set my own tags as well as not having to see ones I don't use, I don't like how simple it looks and most importantly, I couldn't leave GR because of all the groups I'm active in here.

I've also found another one that I am kind of interested in that I'm also keeping my eye on and it's called literal https://literal.club/ but it's still in the very early days and is on an invite basis at this point.

I'm very basic: goodreads and calibre, and goodreads is mainly a backup from my calibre library. I'm going to check the two places that you say that are similar to FictFact.

Yeah, I wasn't feeling StoryGraph would be a good fit for me (at least currently) either. Some things about I liked, but those you mentioned were cons for me too.

I hadn't heard of Literal. Guess I'll bookmark it for checking later, once they're open to all.

You should, Marisa. Thenia's created a site that continues the FictFact book release calendar feature and others. Rick's site is great, as well, and really helps tracking series.
