In the Market for Murder by T.E. Kinsey finds amateur sleuths Lady Hardcastle and her maid, Armstrong, investigating why a local farmer died suddenly in the pub where they were lunching. Hardly the atmosphere they moved to the country for!

I finished A Long Petal of the Sea for the monthy challenge and the road trip challenge. Today I start an audiobook that is over 50 hours long! Shōgun will fit my road trip challenge.

I read Shōgun years ago (really liked it) and have a print copy on my bookshelf. Very thick. It's on my list of books to reread....some day.

I decided to pack it in with Shōgun. It's so long. I have over 30 hours to go and my mind keeps wandering. Problem is, I have to decide what to replace it with. I have Wolfhunter River next on my list and I'm not in the mood for a serial killer. So, I'm off to peruse my "to listen to" shelf for inspiration.

I started The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek today and made it to 25%. I don't think this one will take me very long.

I love it when a favourite author is convinced to continue a story. Lying Beside You is celebrated Aussie mystery writer Michael Robotham's excellent addition to the Cyrus Haven (& Evie Cormac) series. But you can pick it up and enjoy the suspense and action straight away, because Robotham will fill you in.

I'm enjoying it so far. I like the trope of a take-no-guff woman. I'm reminded of Veronica Speedwell and should get back to that series.

I finished my print book, The Chalice and the Blade. It's the 1st book in a trilogy. I think each book is a different character focus and this one ended nicely wrapped up. I'm not going to read on. I lost interest about 1/2 way through.

I seem to lean towards light and fluffy, so I'll start Strawberry Shortcake Murder tonight.

Yesterday I read the 60 pages introduction, and today I am starting the actual story of The Epic of Gilgamesh

I always enjoy the investigative exploits of the self-made computer-nerd 'family' known as the Monkeewrench crew. Off the Grid by P.J. Tracy has Native Americans, terrorists, and kidnappers. Loved it!

I started reading The Wise Man's Fear by Patrick Rothfuss after putting it off for more than a month now, I loved the first book in this series but the 994 pages in this one kind of freaked me out a little, well I finally braced myself and off we go!

For my birthday this year, my daughter gave me a cute summer bin filled with 12 books. Each book is wrapped with brown paper with some written clues on the front: setting, thriller, author…I open one book a month and am currently engrossed in The Last Flight. So far it is quite good with lots of twists and turns.

Kira - don’t read it too quickly. 994 pages seems like a lot but it is over all too quickly and there is still no third book in sight. You will love the novella next though, I hope.

It's an interesting cover isn't it? I recall that I wanted to do a task with a urn on the cover and it got amended to vessel to contain water. Someone asked for verification on a bathtub and I believe I said no. It was too much of a stretch to go from urn to a bathtub.

Maybe there will be a future task involving something like a bathtub. I don't think there are many covers with one. It might be a hard task on its own.

An Artist's Eyes by Frances Tosdevin shows, through Clémence Monnet's beautifully clever illustrations, that all artists (and we) see things differently. Gorgeous!

I finished A Treacherous Curse. I gave it 4 stars but I"m debating going back and changing my rating to 5 stars, I enjoyed it so much. I'm even debating about reading the next installment of the series back to back. Veronica sure doesn't take guff from anyone.

I packed it in with A Certain Slant of Light at about the half way mark. I found it distasteful and lost interest in the story. I don't know what I'll read. My slate is completely empty. I have to find a new ghost book for my road trip, and new books to start today. I've checked off everything I'd planned for July. I'll decide this afternoon. I have to focus on working right now.

I've decided to read A Life Without Water on ebook and Lost Among the Living on audiobook. Both have spots in my road trip challenge.

I'll be surprised if this one doesn't win some more awards. Auē, by Becky Manawatu is centred around a contemporary Maori family. Loved it!
