Challenge rules:
*No graphic novels, poetry or cookbooks allowed.
*Follow your own time zone. If you finish the book between the theme dates in your time zone, it counts.
*You must be able to justify how your book fits the theme. Example: If the theme is cats, then your book can have a cat on the cover, a cat in the book, can be all about cats, etc. If you can justify it, then it will work. Let's keep this easy.
Standard Rules Apply

Themes
January 1-7 Snow
January 8-14 Fireplace
January 15-21 Hot Chocolate
January 22-31 Winter Sports

Jenny | 2163 comments Snowflakes, repeat after me...

"I promise to be different!"

"I promise to be unique!"

"I promise not to repeat things other people say!"

Erin (sweeterin) | 183 comments Hello fellow flakes 😃❄❄❄❄❄

message 9: by Kate (new)

Kate (kcbond) | 27 comments Yeah for snowflakes! All different but together make something amazing- at least if you are where I am from and snow is a rarity!

bamaace83 | 1439 comments Waves, hi snowflakes. I will say I'm usually different and unique but I tend to repeat things other people say sometimes. :)

I have added a link to message one to check in your completed books.

message 15: by Kate (new)

Kate (kcbond) | 27 comments Hi all, my two are in the for the week! I'm back to work tomorrow and I've started books that I won't finish this week (luckily have nothing to do with snow!) but if I happen to read another shorter book I will add it in!

message 16: by Gareth (new)

Gareth | 95 comments I've read my 1 also, back today but have started a shorter audiobook which also fits so will add that in if I get it finished in time.

message 17: by Jodi (new)

Jodi | 148 comments Can we add as many books as fit or is it the number we gave at signup?

message 18: by Jenny (new)

Jenny | 2163 comments I think you can add whatever you like. If you do more, chances are that someone on the team did less, so it should even out in the end.

Donna (dkflynn33) | 7467 comments Mod
Your sign up number was just an average. You may enter whatever you actually read that fits the theme.

message 20: by bamaace83 (new)

bamaace83 | 1439 comments I've been saving my hockey boys for next week. I have one that I need to read for a lot of challenges and another one that just came out so I'll have two books next week and can always pick up some friends if anyone is having a rough reading week. :)

message 21: by Jenny (new)

Jenny | 2163 comments I have been having a rough reading month. Well, I have been reading slowly, and watching a lot of Netflix. The books I have read have no winter words or situations in them at all. I have been letting the side down in a big way.
Maybe I can end the month with a bang.

message 22: by bamaace83 (new)

bamaace83 | 1439 comments We all have those months. I think we will just blame it all on the crazy USA and January. My reading is certainly not up to wear it has been. Work has been crazy lately. We've had so many out due to illness, school closures, freaky snow and ice situations, etc. We don't even know if these children are back in school next week or not. Thank goodness our dog doesn't go to school bc it has been a logistical nightmare for so many of my co-workers. Their kids have been home for two weeks with no return date at the moment. I think the only thing that is really keeping me from totally falling way behind is the audio books that I listen to on my commute and the weekends. Sometimes you just need netflix, wine, and cheese. I may or may not be speaking from experience here. February will be better.

message 23: by Jodi (new)

Jodi | 148 comments It’s been so crazy, I forgot about this challenge all together. Oops…I’ll get some in this week for sure. It happens to us all!

message 24: by Jodi (new)

Jodi | 148 comments Can someone post a link to a winter sports book list please? I don’t have pc/iPad access for a few days, just phone app and wanted to look for possible reads that would work for this last week. Thank you in advance!

message 26: by Jenny (new)

Jenny | 2163 comments First list- winter sports
Hockey
Skiing
Ice skating

message 27: by Jodi (new)

Jodi | 148 comments Thank you so much!

message 28: by Gareth (new)

Gareth | 95 comments Oh that's great! I completed forgot about Beartown despite me earmarking it earlier in the month.

message 29: by Tr1sha (new)

Tr1sha | 657 comments I can read an extra book for this & will do more if I have time. Sometimes life gets in the way of Goodreads, so no one should feel bad about not completing their target. It’s a team effort, not individual.

message 30: by Lexi (new)

Lexi | 781 comments I am going with a slightly different winter sport with dog sledding - Cold the Night, Fast the Wolves
