I won't be joining Zoom but I was wondering what you meant by post your books on chat? The chat on the page that the zoom call was posted or another thread?

This group seems to be more about fun than rules - yippie! That said, on my titles or authors challenges do we have page number guidelines? I was once in a group that only books of 100 pages or more counted. I love my short stories.
No guidelines on page numbers!! you're right, it's more about fun than strict rules. A place to relax and just enjoy reading.
And if you'd like to share your groups that have other challenges you can put them in our Affiliates thread x

haha yes. Bernard so many groups have so many rules, more or less I just want people to enjoy reading!
I'll take the no page limitations because we're just having fun. For me, those are only important if you are doing some kind of competition where time is involved (too easy to win with short stories if it's number of things read.)And while I am not a fan of this guy in general, this reminds me of a song about reading:
"I'm Reading a Book" and you really have to watch the video to appreciate it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BuRuw...
but if you have epilepsy or get migraines from flashing lights, just listen. Best to hear it all the way to the very end, IMO
Look, Jazzy, I'm posting a song in the "wrong" thread ;)!

Sounds like Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance: An Inquiry Into Values. Where you get rid of test!
I'm back with another question. So the A-Z Challenges have beginning and ending dates in January. Is this something I can still add onto even though we are now past January? I think I'm doing it even without permission....anarchy LOL.
Oh yes, they start the first of January, end on the 31st of December. Anything you have read since the first and last day of the year you can add!Vive la révolution!
What is the guideline for determining a book is a classic - 50 years since first publication or some other criteria? Is it the same for westerns and children's books? Thanks.
Pam wrote: "What is the guideline for determining a book is a classic - 50 years since first publication or some other criteria? Is it the same for westerns and children's books? I’ll leave Jazzy to answer about westerns & children’s books as some groups have different rules for these & I’m not sure of Jazzy’s opinion.
Yes i'll just say 50 years from first publication, or (as in the case of posthumously released works), 50 years from the time of writingx

I have a couple of questions...In the monthly challenges, we're to read classics or short stories. Does that mean the short stories don't have to be classic?
In that case, can a short story be a TV novel, like a Doctor Who novel, for instance?

No! This group is all about classics (published 50 or more years ago). Our challenges need classic books or classic short stories. “Short stories” are only mentioned separately as many groups have a minimum number of pages required in books used for their challenges, but we don’t. If you need ideas, look at the examples of suitable books given with each challenge.
