Valerie (nicehotcupoftea) | 834 comments Loving Muster Dogs too! It's fascinating watching the expert trainers working with the natural instinct of the dogs.

Carolyn | 9837 comments I loved that too Leonie. They're such beautiful dogs and so smart!

We've also been enjoying a British series on SBS on Fridays (also on SBS on demand) called "Good with Wood" It's been described as the Great British Bake Off with sawdust. A group of carpenters are given a task (such as make a bed, a collectable dolls house etc) each week with one of them being eliminated at the end. The contestants are great and come up with some amazing ideas (as well as a few flops!).

Oh yes, I'm enjoying that one too - almost as much as the original Bake Off. Kali's not so interested, although she was checking out that massive lion sculpture the other night haha. I've narrowed it down to 2 potential winners and am forcing myself not to ask Google.

I did feel sorry for Billy tackling that huge lion in the animal challenge, but it's face was quite comical! I have my favourite picked out but will also wait to see who wins.

I man the library on my own between 10 and 3, do loans and returns, shelving and covering. I had a good day today on my first shift.

Diana (secondhandrose) | 73 comments When I arrived home from The Embroiderers Guild, my first box from my Stitch & Story book club was waiting for me. The box contained a lovely bookmark with tassel, 5 pencils with stitching puns printed on them, a sticker, a camomile tea bag, a big cookie with a stitching pun imprinted on it and our first book - Devotion by Hannah Kent. Such a fun box to unwrap!

Niamh | 497 comments Has anyone been watching the Winter Olympics? I've been enjoying both live TV and replays in the background while I read. I sometimes do the same with cricket or AFL. Just need that background noise that's easy to tune in or out, I'm not a fan of reading in silence

Diana (secondhandrose) | 73 comments Worked from home today and received mail from Dymocks.
I qualify for a Booklover Gold Rewards Card which means I have spent $500 or more there in the last year. I guess that is why it is my favourite bookstore. As well as books I buy stationery, giftware and jigsaw puzzles.
Only catch is I have to spend $500 + to retain it after a year. We'll see how I go.

Carolyn | 9837 comments I used to be a big fan of Dymocks in Sydney before I bought my kindle for commuting. I never walked out of there without at least four books, and my kids used to love going downstairs to explore the kids section. I always did my Christmas shopping for my nieces and nephews there (I have 12) as they have great games and puzzles as well as a great selection of kids books and the stationary shop used to have really nice arts and crafts kits.

Deb Omnivorous Reader | 1929 comments Hi all!
Hoping that all you lovely readers can throw some recommendations for Gold Coast writers my way!
The book shop at the Coolangatta airport is thinking of promoting local artists in some way and I would like to give them some good recommendations.
I am still waiting to hear if Brisbane is near enough to be 'local' but I got the impression they were after GC writers.

Hi Deborah, I've just checked the Sisters in Crime lists and they have three authors listed as living on the Gold Coast, all with books coming out this year: 1. D.K. Hood, author of 'Don't Look Back' and 'Pray for Mercy' (Bookouture Hachette UK) (real name, Heather Brown); 2. Megan Norris - a journalist who writes true crime: 3. Allie Reynolds, whose book 'The Bay' (Hachette) comes out in June 2022. All the best, Helen.

Not good. Hope you have no lasting ill-effects. After a recent health scare I decided to continue wearing a mask in public places. Not worth the risk.
