I’m with you Sharon, I haven’t been watching any of it but can’t help hearing bits of media input/output/opinions and like you I just want them to be happy and be able to move on with their lives. I’m sure Harry is hyper sensitive because of what happened to his mum and sadly he can remember the impact it had on him as a child and growing up.
I think he genuinely wants to protect his family from the same, and maybe a part of him wants to take a swipe at them all for what they did. What he and his brother and Diana were put through was unforgivable. I keep seeing him as a child walking behind his mother’s coffin, as he was required to do.
It may not be to everyone’s liking, and it may backfire on them, but I can’t blame him for acting out “now that he can.”

Yes, and I tend to think that if Diana was still around, she would probably fully support them getting away and having their own lives.

Jülie ☼♄  (jlie) | 6581 comments I’m appealing to the AR brains trust here…

My friend gave me an amazing short story to read which was written by her 9yo daughter! It really is so good I actually wanted more when it came to the end…5 A4 pages long. Even the tastefully restrained cover art is her own.
Anyway, her mum wants to know if there are any (preferably recommended) classes or correspondence courses for children she could do to encourage her writing talent and to expand on it.

Any advice gratefully accepted 🤗

Julie, you're on FB - get in contact with author Annie Seaton. https://www.facebook.com/annieseaton26

She's amazing for all that sort of thing and has recently edited and published her 13 year old grand daughter's book. So she'd have good advice for you. Good luck, and I hope the 9yo goes far in her writing :)

That’s how I came across it - went back to add some of the links to my challenge post.

Just hope they haven’t down tools for the Christmas season

Sarah | 1543 comments I'm an auntie on my side of the family for the first time today! (Well, technically a step-Auntie, but still cause for great celebration). His name is Nate John. I've been busily top-stitching a quilt for him all day.

Sharon Louise | 137 comments Not sure if any male readers in the group would be interested in this - just found it online and thought it sounded very amusing with a tongue in cheek club name and accepting of anyone male into their Book Club. Seems to be based in Melbourne. If this is old news and it has been shared before, apologies :)

message 796: by Deb (new)

Deb Omnivorous Reader | 1929 comments Hello all - I hope you are all having a very good holiday period.

I have been very absent this year. On the reading front, committing to read 200 books this year was a bit too much, and a challenge I should never have combined with reading all the Discworld books in order. Looks like I have failed both challenges, though not by much.

Look forward to a more relaxed reading year in 2023, one where I can spend more time on random reading and interreact a bit more.

On a darker note - as I know there are some librarians in the group. One of my friends died unexpectedly this year. Her profile (Elizabeth Sek, if anyone else knows her) is still there.

Now, I am not a relative and I am sure her family have quite enough to deal with, if her kids even know about GR. Is there some way I could/should notify GR do you think?

Not a relative but a true friend. I'm sure many of us are faced with a similar situation and would like some guidance.

I have wondered the same about a friend of mine who passed a couple of years ago. From memory, even GR won't remove people (normal members, not authors) as it has something to do with legalities. I'd suggest contacting GR and asking them what the procedure is. I'd be interested myself.
