2022/2023 - Chat about whatever you like: the weather, good stuff, bad stuff, family or pets!

Now I’m thinking a bit straighter, I have a review to write ✍️😉

Taste buds improving is the most important thing - means you can enjoy chocolate :)

Lol Sharon I actually discovered an appetite for chocolate during my downtime and made a serious dent in the box of Cadbury Favourites meant for Halloween kids! 😜

Brenda - congrats!!
Sharon - I get the friend requests from guys without many friends/mainly women/no books, the pic is obviously grabbed from somehwere. I never let them in but I missed one.. straight away got the hello dear stupid message from Nigeria, flagged the account, they may have done something about it. Who knows. Delete block. Delete block!

Mmmm, my kids didn't last long after Percy Jackson etc.. I'm not sure I have any ideas. Indy loves Anh Do but it's too young for what you're looking for... good luck Dale!
I just found this, but you may have also already: https://www.tlbranson.com/books-like-....

Have you noticed how they all have amazing jobs - airforce pilot, rocket engineer etc, but if they have any books listed (usually no more than 5 or 6) they're all YA or rom coms? I just click on ignore request now.

My most common requests are all girls who look about twenty years old who joined Goodreads in October 2012. (I wonder why that month was so popular!) One today has read 45 books since then. And I had not read any of them.

That's almost more weird! At least the men (or they could be women posing as men) seem to have an agenda - PM you first on GR to chat and then ask you to move to another messaging platform for some nefarious reason. They've usually just joined GR, have a smattering of friends (all women) and one or two random books.

Yep, and as I mentioned before, being that exact month and year they joined, they must have all been 5 years old when they signed onto GR, lol. I hit the "ignore" button on them.

Thanks for that list. Will check some out.

I have to say that the application for that card was completely painless.
Today, I did an online application to renew my passport. Verdict: again, surprisingly painless. Now to the Post Office with my money (the painful part) and some passport photos...

So sorry to hear about your fight with Covid, and the bad luck in your personal life too Rowan. I hope picking up a book will help you feel more on top of things.

After two years or so of just work and home, I made the somewhat crazy decision to join a dance group with my sister this year, so I have been learning Polish folk dancing since February. There is going to be a huge festival at the end of this year in Sydney with art exhibitions, workshops, literary events, author talks, concerts and even performances (so those in Sydney could see me on stage!) There are many free events as well as ticketed.
I wondered if it was appropriate for me to make a thread (and where the best place for it would be) or provide links to the festival here as I'm trying to help generate interest from the general public to attend. If one of the mods could direct me, that would be much appreciated.
Thanks.
Hi Megan, good to have you back ☺
Seeing as your dance festival has nothing to do with reading, I'd suggest you put it in the Just For Fun folder. Good luck and have lots of fun 😁

A young friend of ours was the cinematographer 😊😊😊 And did some of the direction. I have not yet seen it, but it's on my list to stream.

Sounds like Covid is really rearing its ugly head again :( Sorry you are having such a miserable week :(

Hi Rowan, sorry to hear you are going through a rough time and especially with covid as well! I hope it all turns out well for you. It’s funny you mention your booster because one of the things that convinced me to get tested was that I had developed symptoms the same as I had with my reaction to my last booster..only heightened! Plus my sense of taste was diminishing day by day…also I couldn’t read, I had really serious brain fog where I just couldn’t make sense of things…quite weird. I’ve now tested negative twice but still have a lingering cough and my voice still hasn’t come back fully..still quite croaky! It’s about three weeks now. But I feel otherwise ok. 🤞 You take care 🤗

Thank you, Brenda. I miss reading and don't know whether it's the Covid brain fog impacting it, or just trouble focusing due to a wandering mind at the moment. Hopefully I'll be back on track soon :)

Thank you, Sharon. Definitely seems like there's another Covid wave at the moment. People seem to be going down everywhere!

Could be a combination of both Rowan. You'll come good, be patient with yourself.

I'm so glad you're feeling okay now, Julie! I hope those remaining symptoms disappear soon too. Your story was interesting and sounds similar to mine. I dismissed my initial symptoms due them being like side effects to the vaccination I had earlier that day! Tomorrow will be 1 week for me. Here's hoping the rest of 2022 is nicer for us Haha I appreciate your kind words.

Commiserations to those suffering (recovering, I hope!) from bl**dy Covid!

I’m glad it’s fixed because I was worried I would miss out on the reserved book I’d been waiting months for!

So glad you're on the mend. And were able to have the antivax pills! My sister-in-law is the only one I know who's had them and she's 82. She said they worked miracles too :)
