Alas, after gleefully evading the worst of it for all this time, I have finally been caught by the dreaded Covid 🦠🤯 Not sure how, but it’s hit me hard and fast and I admit…I’m taking it lying down!! Even reading has been an effort these past few days 😞 so I’ve been listening to audio and podcasts instead. So much sneezing and coughing is doing my head in!

Brenda - just curious have you always been a fast reader? Or has your speed increased since being GR?

My neighbour's also just had a really bad dose, with no idea where she caught it, so it's definitely still about. I think I'll keep wearing my mask in the shopping centre for a while longer. 😷

I've always been a fast reader Sharon but when the kids were small and at school, my reading was less. While I was working it was less. Now I'm retired I'm able to read much more - yay!! There was a time - before GR - that I often had nothing to read!! Not now!! lol

I've just stopped wearing my mask - except at medical appts etc - and I keep a distance. But I just had my hair cut - first time with no mask, and the stylists didn't have masks on either (nor the other customers)

Is anyone else getting a spurt of friend requests again, especially by attractive young women who seem to have been a member of Goodreads since October 2012, making them about 5 years old when they joined, lol?

Thanks All! I’m not feeling very “compos mentes” at the moment so trying not to write things 😆! It’s like that, it has me up and down thinking I’m getting better and then boom, down again…in the space of an hour! Just have to wait it out I guess.
But my DH said the chemist told him this morning that a loooot of people are getting it at the moment! They’re just treating it differently…so take care. 🤷🏻♀️

Amazing challenge, Brenda, congratulations! and still 2 months of the year to go!
Brenda wrote: "I have just completed my annual GR challenge with my final read, Hidden Scars - 350/350 :)"Wow, well done!!
Congratulations Brenda on your reading challenge. Awesome effort. I have applied to go back to 3 days work a week next year so hope to have a bit more reading time.I have never stopped wearing a mask. In Victoria Covid cases were up 25% last week.
Well I know a few of you would like to be me tomorrow. My work colleague, Dannielle and I are going to Readings and Readings Kids bookstores and we have $8000 to spend!

It actually looks like we might be at the beginning of a new wave of variants, with cases and hospitalisations increasing over the last few weeks.
Needing help here. Anyone out there suggest some ideas for an avid young reader who has enjoyed The Lightning Thief and others of Percy Jackson seriesLook Into My Eyes, Ruby Redford series, Geek Girl series and rangers apprentice serieAny help appreciated. I am at a loss.
I'm a bit out of touch too Dale! My younger son loved the Eragon series about the same time he enjoyed Percy Jackson & The Rangers apprentice series. Also Amie Kaufman & Jay Kristoff's Illuminae series a bit later - would be suitable for a young teen.

Brenda wrote: "I have just completed my annual GR challenge with my final read, Hidden Scars - 350/350 :)"Well done, Brenda, do you stop reading now until 2023? ;)

Dale wrote: "Needing help here. The Rangers Apprentice series can be read from a younger age than Illuminae, which I think will work better with teenagers.
I'd also suggest Skyward, which is the first in a series by Brandon Sanderson, along with The Rithmatist which is currently the only one of its series.
And also perhaps Tamora Carter: Goblin Queen by Jim C. Hines, which I haven't read, but is also for that age group. I've read his adult stories, and they're great and very readable.
Brenda wrote: "I have just completed my annual GR challenge with my final read, Hidden Scars - 350/350 :)"Awestruck. Please send your army of servants up here, so I can attempt to catch up on this year's reads.

Went into the city as I needed to spend $40 to retain gold status at Dymocks. Wasn’t hard! Also attended a Wheeler Centre Spring Fling event with Vika and Linda Bull talking about their memoir ‘No Bull’. (Can’t find the link but the ISBN is 9781922848260) They also performed three songs, a real treat!

I’m feeling much better now and feel like I’ve finally turned a corner, those antivax pills work wonders! It’s been a weird trip, the worst part I think was the confusion I felt, nothing made much sense to me for about a week and I couldn’t even focus on my book, couldn’t taste much so now I need to make more chilli oil! 😂 I was practically pouring it onto my food! I have had a negative rat test yesterday but will stay isolated for a few more days to be sure. My DH was amazingly unaffected! 🤗
