Gonna be controversial and say Hunger Games.
Why: only the LOTR movies were really good. While I would encourage people to read the books too, the books are really slow.
in the hunger games, both the movies and the books were good.
(Please read my reasoning before hunting me like im an orc or a tribute)

XD I agree LOTR books were slow, the movies were amzing though. I didn't like the plot of Hunger Games. like by blue blazing flames would you write a book bout kids who are supposed to kill each other?

Agreed

Sorry, i just wanted to see what a full debate group would have to say

However, maybe it's partly because my family and I have been huge Tolkien and Lewis fans for as long as I can remember.
I read Hunger Games this year, and honestly (please don't hate me for this! :D) I really didn't like it. I thought it was pretty junk and awful. I also hated Katniss with a passion. I can't get into all the reasons why I hate it right now, but if you want to know and are willing to read a long review, you can read my reasons here: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I honestly think that LotR is a billion times more interesting than Hunger Games, but I know that's just personal preference. I feel like people nowadays are more into those kinds of things, sadly, so maybe HG is something that young people today like more and find more interesting, while LotR appeals more to people who are either older or enjoy classics and the morals and qualities found in them.
But that's just my opinion. Everyone's different and has different tastes. 😃

I COMPLETELY agree with you. Not on the Katniss part. I don't hate Katniss. XD However I do find HG to be a bit junky and low quality, the plot is predictable, and there's nothing to be taken away from HG, unlike LotR. You can learn so many good values for life in general just from reading and appreciating LotR, not to mention that it will make you a better writer and reader. HG is just low quality and doesn't actually give you anything. It's pure escapism, doesn't require any work, and therefore doesn't give any reward.
