My thoughts: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I don't mind this series (despite the overtly gory nature!)

i had so much fun with this book! it had much stronger dark fantasy vibes that i initially thought, and i was absolutely for it. great concept + great execution!

Damn, Navi! That's a LOT! :)

Have you listened to The Lesser Dead? It's in my top 5 audios of all time!

Which kind of magicians, exactly?"
An old, alcoholic, and perhaps mad magician and his young nephew and best friend who come to the mad man's estate, (Shadowland) for the summer to apprentice.

The Disappearance by Bentley Little
Three stars. It was solid, but Little has written much better books. There are some plot poin..."
Oooh, I actually have that T.M. Wright book as well as a beautiful copy of Strange Seed, both of which I haven't read. Yet.

And there it sits on the shelf, calling to me.
And, yeah. I recently reread Shadowland, and in my opinion, the book still holds up after all this time.

Not yet, but you just moved it up closer to the top of my to read list!

btw, thanks for adding me as a friend. I was actually surprised we weren't already friends. ha

I Travel by Night by Robert McCammon
I would call this "fun and forgettable." Don't think I'll read the second one.

It reminded me why I fell in love with reading and in particular horror. I enjoyed the hell out of it (again).

Reminds me that I want to reread this before the next film version comes out.

Russell James delivers a suspenseful page turner. Great story, great characters. One of those books that keeps you well and truly hooked from beginning to end.

Just finished this. It was pretty good. 4 stars. More grief/loss focused with horror aspects but I didn't mind. It was an enjoyable read (as much as anything about grief can be enjoyable).

shirley jackson's prose is just amazing, but the stories themselves keep falling flat for me. enjoyed this one more than the haunting of hill house tho.

The Walking
This is a novel that started extremely well, with excellent characterization and atmosphere, but it steadily lost altitude as it went along until it reached an ending that was downright...well...dumb.

My 4 star review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

I'm enjoying my current read, Live Girls, much more!

I'll have to consider that one. I think a pb of it is on one of my shelves.
A few days ago I started Just Like Home and then my reading time dried up. I hope to dive in further this weekend.

Also love the psychopath character that been thrown into the mix for good measure, and his ‘Southern States accent’ is just a pleasure to read. Just hoping that we are treated to a sensible ending regarding this crazy guy, and given nothing too unbelievably corny to spoil the whole illusion.
Should be done by the end of the weekend.

Well, I do love train stories. And I already own it, so...well, we'll see. Gotta finish Live Girls first.

I just finished listening to Upgrade by Blake Crouch 5 stars! It reminded me a bit of The Matrix at one point, but mostly Limitless!
