Elisabeth Rose (elisabethrose) | 949 comments That's interesting Lexi. The green on my Poirot book is much greener than tineye's version but still qualifies at 56%.

I have another Agatha C which is clearly blue but there are 2 1977 editions, Fontana and Bantam, listed for the right pub date on Goodreads but my Fontana edition doesn't show the cover. I tested the Bantam version which has the same cover but it comes up quite purple.

Blue is an easier colour to find so I guess I'll shelve that.

Elisabeth Rose (elisabethrose) | 949 comments I could read my March Green 7 find for a Feb Wild Draw 4 if needed or takes pressure off someone to finish something in time.

message 253: by Shannon (new)

Shannon | 13 comments Hello! I am so sorry for not posting, moving house got a little complicated last week! I will definitely have the blue cover book read by end of month, and will have two others done as well, including Wolf Hall. I will remove my other ideas from the spreadsheet ASAP.

Jen (book_worm23) | 229 comments Hi, sorry! I still exist and still reading.

Work got really busy last week and then this week I was in a car accident (no injuries for everyone involved thankfully).

So life has been a bit hectic.
I have one more book I'll probably finish by the end of the month, but that might be it from me for the rest of the month, hopefully things will normal out in the upcoming weeks.

message 256: by Lexi (new)

Lexi | 736 comments Jen, I'm sorry to hear that and glad you are ok. I hope life gets calmer.

Tina ❣ (nutrinut) | 283 comments Hope you're okay Jen!

message 258: by Elisabeth (new)

Elisabeth Rose (elisabethrose) | 949 comments Jen, glad you're okay. Even without injuries--and thank goodness for that--an accident is a really time consuming, paperwork producing nuisance no-one needs. Ugh.

message 259: by Elisabeth (new)

Elisabeth Rose (elisabethrose) | 949 comments Finished 24/2/22
Knots & Crosses 4 stars

I used to watch Rebus on TV back in the early 2000's but had never read the books. John Hanna did the early series and then Ken Stott took over.

I'll definitely be looking for more after reading this one, the first in the series because I really enjoyed it. Shows the gritty, dirty underbelly of Edinburgh the tourists never see.

message 260: by Jax (new)

Jax (jaxn) | 102 comments Jen-sorry to hear about the accident but good to hear you're physically ok. The paperwork for accidents is maddening.

@Elisabeth-I really enjoyed that and it got me into the whole series.

I moved The Code Breaker into March and added West with the Night into February since I'll be finishing that tonight. Code Breaker I think can be used as a Wild Card for next month.

message 261: by Jen (new)

Jen (book_worm23) | 229 comments Thanks everyone!
And yes the paperwork has been maddening sorting everything out has not been fun, and then all the waiting to find out what's getting fixed or not.

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 570 comments How are we doing with books now? Anything we desperately need more than others or are we all covered? In case you missed my post before, A Justified Murder could go into the empty reverse spot. I read that one a few years ago.

I have a little road trip to take tomorrow and could knock another short audio book.

message 264: by Lexi (new)

Lexi | 736 comments Mary, I just moved things around so out reverses are now covered (Thank you, I used A Justified Murder). We need 6 more cards and I think we have that covered with what people think they will read on the SS. I may go look for a backup on the Wild Draw4 if we don't hear from Shannon tomorrow, as that is in hand 9 and we would not get any points past that hand if we don't get it covered.

message 265: by Elisabeth (new)

Elisabeth Rose (elisabethrose) | 949 comments I'll start reading my March green 7 so if we need it for the Wild Draw 4 I can finish it quickly and if we don't, we've got it for March. It's another Agatha C. Poirot's Early Cases by Agatha Christie

message 266: by Mary X (last edited Feb 26, 2022 02:14PM) (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 570 comments Which book was earmarked for that? I have a couple of blue covers i was saving for March. But i could listen to one tomorrow and Monday instead of Purrs and Peril. Also this might work. Cover looks green to me. I listened to that today.

Spirit of Steamboat (Walt Longmire, #9.1) by Craig Johnson

message 267: by Mary X (last edited Feb 26, 2022 02:20PM) (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 570 comments I see you were earmarking a book for blue 4. I'll see if I can find a shorter one and hold off on finishing if it's not needed this month. I'm listening to books while I clean and do needlework.

It's In His Kiss (Bridgertons, #7) by Julia Quinn
Book: It's In His Kiss
Author: Julia Quinn

Rating: 3/5

Review: Overall, a great read that I enjoyed! I just felt quite restless whilst reading it which is why it is rated so low. I did like getting to see some of the past Bridgerton characters again as well as getting to know Hyacinth better. I did also like getting to know Gareth and I felt that Hyacinth and Gareth make a great couple especially as he is the only one who can keep up with her.

Definitely check out this series if you haven't yet! It's amazing and a great romance series to binge on!

message 269: by Lexi (last edited Feb 26, 2022 03:41PM) (new)

Lexi | 736 comments Well, Ella's book works as a blue 5 so we have the Wild Draw4 covered. Thank you everyone for volunteering. We are doing great.

Five books to go.

Left:
2 (x2)
4 (x1)
Wild (x2) - can be a 8, Reverse, 7 or 2

message 270: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 570 comments I'm going to read Get a Life, Chloe Brown. Ella read it and it also works for 2. I'll save Purrs and Peril for March.

I'll check in before I finish in case its not needed until March.

message 271: by Elisabeth (new)

Elisabeth Rose (elisabethrose) | 949 comments Okay I'm already reading A Venetian Reckoning which works for 4, 7 and 8 and like Mary, will read to suit our situation.

a Contradiction | 26 comments Hi everyone.

I'm glad you are okay Jen. Take care.

I'm currently reading - An Heiress's Guide to Deception and Desire.
Should be done by the day. If we need any other book please let me know, I can read something quick.

Regarding March reads, I'll be able to add books by 3rd or 4th.

Hoping you all a good day/ night.

message 273: by Lexi (last edited Feb 28, 2022 09:54AM) (new)

Lexi | 736 comments Hey everyone, we are down to only needing three more books. I will keep everyone updated throughout the day.

Left:
2 (x1)
4 (x1)
Wild (x1) - can be a Reverse, 7 or 2

message 274: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 570 comments Great. I'm just about finished with Chloe Brown which works for 2, 7 or Reverse. I can listen to the end now.

What time do we have to have all the books done? My husband is playing cards tonight. Maybe I can finish another audio I had started and put aside for Chloe Brown. I was going to finish that one tomorrow for March before it gets repossessed by my library.

message 275: by Lexi (new)

Lexi | 736 comments Shannon just added three books so we are good for March. (Thank you, Shannon and everyone).

Great job everyone, getting all cards covered. We will have even more books needed in March.

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 570 comments Audible is having a big sale and I just got 12 audio books for $50 including the last 6 books in the Elemental Assassin series by Jennifer Estep.

These are all books my library doesn't have so I am very happy with the bargain. The library has all her other books not one single edition of any of the elemental assassin books. Happy Birthday to Me (it was last Friday but still)

Another Commissario Brunetti crime story set in Venice. Evocative descriptions of Venice and a good mystery to solve.

Unwrap My Heart or It's Time For Mummies by Alex Falcone
Book: Unwrap My Heart: or It's Time For Mummies
Author: Alex Falcone

5/5 Stars

This book isn't necessarily a literary masterpiece, but it is hilarious and ridiculous, and that is enough for a 5 star rating. I enjoyed reading this book. It makes fun of the girl falling in love with a monster type of tropes which makes it so delightful. So if you thought Twilight was over the top, I would highly recommend this book.

message 285: by Jax (new)

Jax (jaxn) | 102 comments Finished my first two books of March

The Murder of Roger Ackroyd another great Agatha Christie novel. Highly recommend.

The Code Breaker: Jennifer Doudna, Gene Editing, and the Future of the Human Race Walter Isaacson writes great bios and this is another one. This one has quite a bit on Covid-19 and is very current. Very readable, there's a lot of science but he breaks it down in a way to make it readable.

message 286: by Elisabeth (new)

Elisabeth Rose (elisabethrose) | 949 comments Finished my second March book. The Law of Innocence. 5 stars

I really like the Harry Bosch series but this is the most recent of the Mickey Haller 'Lincoln Lawyer' books. A great read which kept me up late last night to finish it.

Kingdom of the Cursed (Kingdom of the Wicked, #2) by Kerri Maniscalco
4.75/5
The second book in the Kingdom of the Wicked trilogy. I enjoyed this book more than the first book, but it was a bit confusing in certain parts. I really loved the characters and the "mystery" aspect of this book, and I'm looking forward to the release of the final book in this series this upcoming September.

message 288: by Jax (new)

Jax (jaxn) | 102 comments The Mark of Athena (The Heroes of Olympus, #3) by Rick Riordan is this red enough? I can red it was a Red9 for a wild card.

message 289: by Lexi (new)

Lexi | 736 comments Jax, sadly, no. It is more pink than red but even so, it is only about 45% so not>50%.

It Ends with Us by Colleen Hoover
Book: It Ends with Us
Author: Colleen Hoover

Rating 4/5

An overall lovely read full of important topics. I loved it soo much and I am so glad that I have finally read it. I loved everything about it but it wasn't one of my favourites which is why it only got 4 stars. I would still highly recommend checking it out if you haven't yet.

Elisabeth Rose (elisabethrose) | 949 comments Finished March 6
Poirot's Early Cases Poirot's Early Cases by Agatha Christie
3 stars

18 short stories featuring the brilliance of Poirot. The attitudes are very dated and quite funny nowadays. Very British class conscious characters. Foreigners are a bit suspect with their peculiar habits and servants are treated as human beings only to a point suitable to their station in life. The racism and class difference acceptance is all very casual and natural.

message 292: by Elisabeth (new)

Elisabeth Rose (elisabethrose) | 949 comments Finished March 7
Mrs England by Stacey Halls
3 stars
Okay historical set in 1904 Yorkshire. It has a touch of the Jane Eyre's about it but without the romance. The title character is the mother of the odd family the heroine goes to work for as nurse to their four children. I didn't think it was as gripping and suspenseful as the blurb suggested but it was enjoyable and an interesting setting in a small textile mill town.

message 293: by Jax (new)

Jax (jaxn) | 102 comments Finished Four to Score (Stephanie Plum, #4) by Janet Evanovich which I think can be a wildcard. I'm working my way through this series on audio. I can't comment on sitting down and reading them but for a companion for a lot of driving time they work well. The mystery is good and the side "soap opera" of the main character's life makes it entertaining.

message 294: by a Contradiction (new)

a Contradiction | 26 comments Good day, everyone!

I've been travelling a lot lately.
Now that I'm back home, I'll have more time to read.

I have noticed that Mary C has added Get a Life, Chloe Brown
I have read that in Oct 2021 - to be specific, I finished it on 03-Oct-21. We can use that as a Reverse if required.

Also, I read the The Kiss Quotient in Feb 2021, that can also be used for Reverse.

Lexi | 736 comments We have all colored cards claimed. Good job

I read all four of mine, two 3s and 2 4s, so not bad

List - favorite at top
Alligator and Other Stories by Dima Alzayat - stories on Syrian immigrants - some really good ones so 4 overall
Captain Blood by Rafael Sabatini - fun adventure, but really dated
We Dream of Space by Erin Entrada Kelly - very average and perdictable
Blue-Skinned Gods by S.J. Sindu - great idea, poor execution

just thought I'd give a quick update on my reading. I am currently slowly reading my read through We Hunt the Flame at the moment. Sorry, it's taking me a while to get through. I will try to finish it during this long weekend hopefully!

I will then move onto House of Earth and Blood, and either Ugly Love or Daisy Jones & The Six.

Also amazing work so far guys! We are doing amazingly!
