He smiled and continued to eat his sandwich. He finished it and as he was gathering his trash with one hand he saw his coach walking up to them.

She sees his coach and she's a little worried.
The coach comes up to them and says, "Liam. I've got superb news. The head coach from Berkley((¯\_(ツ)_/¯)) just called to tell me that they were going to be at the next game just to watch you play."
Skylar gasps. BERKLEYYYYY!!!!!!! They're like amazing!!!!!!! She's happy for him and totally surprised.
Liam didn't know what to say. Berkeley? That's amazing. "That's great. Thanks for tell me Coach." He decided on. He was smiling but it wasn't his Skylar-smile, but the smile that made all the adults in his life happy.
He didn't seem like as happy as he should've been. She watches his face as his coach walks away.
He was shocked and looked up to see Skylar's concerned face looking back at him. He should explain why he wasn't jumping up and down right now. "Because I told myself when I started college applications I couldn't get too excited, because I could always be rejected. I'm excited that all these coaches are coming to see me play, but I have to stick to my rule." He explained, hoping it made sense.
She nods, "Makes sense," she said, getting up to throw her trash away.
She's not sure what to do or say so she just sits there, watching him.
He finished collecting his trash and stood, "Want me to bring yours?" He asked her before he walked to the trash can.
She nods, and says, "sure kind sir"
"My pleasure, madame," he joked before grabbing her trash and walking over to throw it away.
She Liam-smiles, the first time since Chad had left.
He walks back to the table with his Skylar-smile on full display.
She doesn't feel awkward anymore. Not in the slightest.
"I have returned from the horribly long trek to the cafeteria trash can." He announced, joking.
She shakes her head at him, finding it so funny how they jjoked about the formality, "I am so very pleased. It was such a long wait." she jokes right back.
"I sincerely apologize for making you wait, madame, how could I ever make it up to you?" He asked with a joking grin. Curious as to what she was going to respond with.
She blushes, not knowing what he wanted her to say.
Liam laughed a little at her blush and sat back down across from her.
Her mind is still reeling from Chad and she looks at the table thinking. She blushes even more, thinking about all that had been said there. She hopes he doesn't notice.
"You okay?" He asked, noticing that she looked like she was thinking hard about something.
She looks down and blushes again, not going to tell him what was on her mind, "Yeah, I'm okay," she said smiling-Liamly.
"That's good," he said softly, smiling Skylarly.
His soft tone of voice made her look up and smile again, not knowing what to say.
He caught her eyes and stared into them again.
She smiled at him, knowing that if they did this again, they'd be staring in each other's eyes forever, but that didn't stop her.
Liam smiled Skylarly and continued to stare into eyes, wanting to do it forever.
She shakes her head at him, grinning and says jokingly, "We can't keep doing this Liammm."
"Why not Skylarrrr?" He asked, joking, but slightly disappointed, he wanted to stare into them as long as he could.
She grins again, "Because then we won't stopppp" she says, not wanting to stop either.
Liam shrugged, still smiling, "That's not a problem with me."
She shrugged, giving in, "Me neither," she said a twinkle in her eye. She was well aware that people were watching them, but in this moment with Liam, she couldn't care less.
He smiled Skylarly but times ten. He didn't say anything else but he kept gazing into her beautiful eyes. He really didn't care about everyone else.
She held his hand tracing tiny circles with her thumb, still looking at him, grinning like an idiot.
Liam heard someone yell, "GET A ROOM!" to them, but he ignored them, squeezing Skylars hand softly as comfort. He was still smiling Skylarly.
She laughed, really? get a room? they weren't even doing anything. She shook her head, her eyes twinkling, loving that she got a second chance.
Liam laughed a little, but he deflated when the bell rang. "It's too soon." He whispered.
She gets up and whispers, "I know. But we've got forever," she says teasing, not really thinking.
He smiled as he got up and said, "Forever and ever."
Her heart is pounding so loudly she thinks he can hear it. "Forever and ever," she whispers, repeating his words softly. She holds his hand, still tracing the tiny circles. "Why did they tell us to get a room. We weren't even doing anything," she said whispering in his ear.
He thought for a second before whispering, "To be jerks. To have something to say. I don't know."
She smiles and whispers, "Whatever. I don't see why they all care so much, it's just me and you..." she was going to say baby, knowing that it would make him blush, but wasn't sure if it was okay. So she shut up waiting to see if he would notice the way her words had trailed off.
She didn't have to say the word because it was definitely implied. He felt his cheeks erupt into flames and he smiled, "Because it's high school." He decided. He wasn't going to say anything about her almost calling him baby.
She grins at him, knowing he knew what she was going to say, "Is that okay?" she asks, the meaning implied. She's still holding his hand and looking at him, nervous.
Okay, now he was going to have to say something. It's not like he didn't like it, but it made it feel too fast. It's the same feeling from the first time. He didn't like that feeling. He didn't want to hurt her by saying no, but if he really wanted this to work he knew he would have to. "It's not that I don't like it," he started, "but I think it's too fast." He hoped and prayed to whomever would be listening she wouldn't be mad at him.
She nods, understanding. She missed the nickname but got why he thought it was too much.
