"Of course, what's up?" Liam asked, slightly nervous.

Liam's nervousness is nothing compared to Skylar's. She looks down, not looking at him. "So, you said we're gonna go slow. Lillian said you could've meant like friends to like super slow and I was just wondering, I know we're definitely not gonna even uh talk about what happened before, I don't want that anymore. There's just stuff here and I don't know what's okay. So could you tell me what's okay?" She looks down at her shaking hands and prays to whoever's listening that he won't get mad.
Liam nodded and thought for a second. What did he mean by slow? He knew he didn't want to repeat last time. It was a mess. "I'm not going to lie, I don't think I could handle friends." He said, smiling a little, trying to show her that he wasn't mad. "I want us to be more than that, but I want to take you places beside my room and yours. I want to bring you home and text you good night and stay up all night on the phone. I want to talk to you. Eventually, I'd really like to kiss you, but we should wait for a little bit. Are you okay with all of that? Is there something you're comfortable with?" He asked, trying to catch her eye.
She looks up at him and nods. "That sounds nice," she once again wondered how it had gotten to where it had gotten so quickly.
"If you think we start moving too fast, please tell me okay? I really want this to work." He said, looking back into her beautiful eyes.
"I'll tell you, don't worry," she said looking into his eyes, "Can we hold hands?" she asks, uncertain.
She takes a deep breath and says, "We're going to work out," looking at him in his eyes, trying to show him how much she was willing to sacrifice for this to be forever.
"We're going to work out," he echoed, squeezing her hand. He was willing to sacrifice so much to make the second time work and he hoped Skylar could see that. He could see that she was ready to sacrifice so much for this.
She leans against his shoulder and sighs. "We have another class and then lunch," she looked up at him hopefully, "Can we sit together?" This time she'd be sure to ask him before she did anything.
He nodded, "I look forward to seeing you at lunch." He said with a smile, "Do you want me to walk you to class?"
She Liam-smiled him and said, "If you want to, I certainly wouldn't be opposed."
He Skylar-smiled her and held out his arm again, "Where is our destination, madame?" He asked, teasingly.
""Ummm... Chemistry, my good sir," she adds, taking his arm, feeling happy and whole.
He nods and starts towards chemistry. When they arrived he said, "We have reached chemistry, madame." He said with his Skylar-smile.
She smiles at him, and determined to be less weird this time, she didn't wave, or kiss him on the cheek, she just let go of his hand and started towards the door.
Liam smiled and turned around and went to his english class. Not being able to think about anything but her.
She shook her head, knowing that it would just be another class thinking about him, excited for lunch.
He walked into english and almost immediately wanted to turn around. He saw Miss Anglemyer smiling at him knowingly as he sat down. He shook it off and his thoughts drifted back to Skylar. He couldn't wait for it to be lunchtime.
She sat through chemistry, smiling like an idiot as her classmates watched her. She didn't focus at all and when the lunch bell rang, she practically ran out of the classroom, wanting to see him.
When the bell rang, Liam was the first person out of the classroom. He heard Miss Anglemyer call his name but he pretended like he didn't. He started towards the direction of the chemistry class.
She saw Liam walking towards her and she smiled very brightly, so happy to see him.
Liam was Skylar-smiling as he walked up to her, "Hey madame."
"Hey good sir," she says giggling.
"Shall we walk to lunch?" He said, laughing a little.
She takes his hand and says, smiling, "Yes we shall"
And with that they started walking to the cafeteria. They entered the large room and went into the line. Liam tried not to think about the last time they were in the lunchroom together.
Skylar's mind goes back to their first and last day of lunch together. She blushes hard, holding his hand tigher.
They made their way up to the front of the line. Liam grabbed an apple and a sandwich. He let go of her hand a squeeze so he could pay the cafeteria worker.
She got a sandwich also but got an orange instead. She paid the lady and went back to Liam.
Liam smiled and gently took her hand again. He didn't know where she wanted to sit, so he slowed down, letting her take the lead.
She steered him away from the table knowing neither of them could sit there again, keeping a straight face and holding a conversation.
He was thankful that the didn't go to the table. When she reached a table, they sat down.
She smiled at him and sat down, the relief visible.
Liam noticed out the corner of his eye that a couple of people were glancing at them, curious as to why they were being seen together after the fiasco of the previous month.
She looks at him, turns around and says to them nicely, "There's nothing to see here. We're just talking," she says with a strained smile.
Chad appeared out of nowheres(bc ofc) and snorted, "Yeah, right, you're probably gonna try to fuck em in the bathroom again."
She watches Liam, giving him the "calm down" look and said, "Yes, that's exactly what we're going to do." her voice dripping with sarcasm, "Don't be jealous because I dropped you, the sex, it wasn't that great," she said, hearing people around go "oooooooh"
Liam looked down, pissed, but happy that she was defending them.Chad scoffed and said, loudly, "Fucking whore bruh."
She scoffs right back, "Yeah, because a whore goes back to someone who never even fucked her in the first place. Get over it. No one wants you. Leave us alone." she says, almost growling.
"Fuck you, you bitc-" Miss Anglemyer grabbed him by the ear and pulled him away to the principals office.
Skylar looks at Liam and smiles, just barely at the irony of Miss Anglemyer stepping in when she did. She hopes that she didn't upset him when she defended them.
Liam smiled too and looked at Skylar, "Thank you, for defending us like that." He said, hoping that that didn't sound too polite.
She looks down, embarrassed. "I knew he wasn't gonna leave us alone," she said blushing and sighing.
Liam sighed, "Once a jerk, always a jerk." He said before taking a bite of his sandwich. "Hopefully he'll leave us alone now. Or at least leave you alone."
She was happy he didn't say anything about how she had said the sex with Chad wasn't great. Yeah, they had broken up, but still. She's sure these thoughts are all over her face, so she keeps looking down, eating her sandwich silently.
When she had said the sex with Chad wasn't great, he was initially happy but then he realized she had sex with Chad. He didn't really care that much, but Chad? Well, she was in a bad place. She was hurt. It's not like she cheated on you, you broke up with her. Chad was a rebound.. Liam smiled and put his hand facing up on top of the table, giving her the option to take it if she wanted to.
She was glad for his show of affection. She gladly took it but could see that he was thinking about what she had said. It was all over his face. stupidstupidstupid having sex with Chad. Ughhhh, he was a sucky rebound and Liam deserved better than that. She did look like a whore. At least Liam had smiled at her. She smiled back, not quite as brightly as the Liam smile, but bright all the same.
He could see that she was beating herself up about Chad so he squeezed her hand lightly to try to tell her that it's okay and that he knew it was a mistake.
She squeezed back and continued to eat, smiling, knowing that he cared, but it wasn't a huge dealbreaker thing.
