"Yeah, it'd be best to be gone before he gets back." She looks down and notices she's still wearing his clothes but doesn't say anything, knowing she'll need the comfort for the trying times to come.

She gets in the passenger side and pulls out a Taylor Swift disk, knowing that she'll probably cry and that that's okay. She was grateful for Lillian for going into his room to get her stuff. It would have broken her and Lillian knew.

Skylar just keeps sighing. There's nothing she can do and it's driving her insane. She tried to help and she just made it worse. You never do anything right her diseased mind shot at her. You've never deserved him. It only took him 2 days to realize you weren't worth it. She starts bawling her eyes out, knowing Lillian had no clue what her inner demons were doing to her mind.

"It took him two days. Then he realized I wasn't worth it. I'm too screwed up and he can't deal with it. I always mess things up and I get angry quickly and I slapped him. He knows I'm not worth it." she says sobbing into Lillian's shoulder.

~~~~~~~((do you like my fancy time skip thing))
Over the course of the next month, Lillian visited her every single day. Not caring what Jackson or even Liam said.
For Liam, the breakup was harsh. For the first week, he would barely talk or look at anyone. He took a temporary leave((idk if you can actually do that but here you can bc i said so)) from his soccer and football teams. He was mad, sad, worried, about her. He regretted the things he said almost as soon as he had said it. The second week, he felt slightly better but this was when he found out that Lillian had booked Skylar up in a hotel. He still cared about her so he didn't make a huge fuss about it. When he saw her in the hallways at school, he always checked her face. It seemed like for the first two weeks there was always tear marks, but after a while he didn't see them anymore. In the third week, Jackson and Liam finally made up, truly, actually made up and they had a long conversation which ended with both of them crying and hugging. Liam rejoined his sports teams and picked up his grades, which had begun to drop. In the fourth week, he pulled out the Clue game. It was a bad idea, because her scorecard was still in the box. He picked it up and smiled a little in remembering her aggravation at being so close to winning. He sighed and threw it away after five minutes. He couldn't let himself be sad again. For the first time in weeks, Liam really wanted to talk to Skylar. He knew she was doing better though, so everyday in between classes Liam would resist the urge to go up to her and tell her hi and ask how she was doing.
For the first week in the hotel, Skylar was a straight up mess. She showered like once, sexted with Chad and did a bunch of stupid shit. She looked disgusting and she cried for days. Lillian checked in on her of course, but it also hurt seeing her. Just another reminder of Liam, she thought. Everything was a reminder of him. The way she put up her hair. When Chad called her baby. Lillian. His clothes. She wore them the entire day for 3 days before Lillian coaxed her out of them saying that she could wash them and bring back another pair if she wanted. So, she did. By the time a week had passed, Lillian convinced her to go shopping with her, having her shower and put on her makeup and clothes that weren't Liams. She blocked Chad. She blocked out everyone at school too. They were all confused. They saw them kissing to fighting to smacking to nothing. She avoided Liam at schools, knowing his schedule. She sat in the cafeteria by herself avoiding looking at him. The next 2 weeks were easier. She wasn't moved on, but she was healing sort of. She was coming to terms with the mistakes that she made, not just blaming him. They both had screwed up a lot and they definitely were a mess of passion. What they had got to had been dangerous, they had so much lust. He was right in so many situations. She sighed, wondering if he really meant it when he said that they were over for good. Lillian kept mothering her, bringing her dinner, paying her hotel bill, bringing her clothes, carefully avoiding the subject of her stepson. Skylar knew that she could never repay Lillian. People left her alone at school and she got a 98% on her essay, all without L***'s help. His name was a sort of curse word, not that he was bad, just that he shouldn't be mentioned. She waited, each day losing more and more hope that they were ever going to talk again let alone be together again. That tore her apart. When she did look at him, though. He looked different. Distant. Like he was in a different world. She would just sigh to herself and remind herself that it wasn't polite to stare. That last week, she came to school looking flawless every day. Cute outfits, perfect makeup and hair and smiles for everyone. She pushed the thought of him far from her mind. She was depending on herself and not wanting pity from everyone. He had helped her in a lot more ways than one and if this was the end at least she walked away learning something. She was ready to talk to him if he wanted.
Skylar couldn't believe Miss Anglemyer. She wasn't mad necessarily. But, whyyy??? Why practically force them to work together? She didn't want to be honest with herself. She wanted to talk to him, but she didn't know if she was willing to walk back through the fire with him, talking about what happened. She sighed aloud, in the middle of Miss Anglemyer's sentence. Both Liam and her looked at Skylar curiously. She looked down and said, "Sorry, just thinking, continue..." She notices that Liam is looking at her, actually seeing her. She gives him a smile, trying to act like he was just another person, but she felt it slip into a surprised face that she couldn't mask.
She smiles at Miss Anglemyer, "Okay, awesome. Thank you so much for arranging this for me. It means a lot." She looks at Liam and says, "Hey, let's talk about when we're gonna meet. We could work on it now, if that's good with you." she said all this trying to keep her cool, but her palms were sweaty, her mind screaming at her what he had told her before driving off, leaving her. She didn't think he saw her struggle.
"Awesome. Can we take your car?" Totally ignoring all the sirens in her brain. She needed to be okay. She saw him walk closer. He missed her, she could feel it. Keep your cool, she reminded herself.
"Sounds great. Then we can get started and talk."
She smiled at him, her real, blinding smile. She was nervous as they walked to his car. Thinking of what happened last time they were both in this car together.
She noticed the tiny differences. She was okay with it. She got in, buckled up and said, "So I was thinking we could make a collage on a poster board and add like quotes..." trying to distract herself from how close they were.
"I've been pretty great. You?" she asks trying to be courteous, but hears her voice cracking. She curses herself, are you serious???
She swallows, knowing they need to talk talk. "About before..." she said, nervous.
She looks down, not knowing what to say. "Okay. I messed up a lot and I hurt you and I pressured you."
"I know. I'm sorry too. And I'm not sure if you care, but I'm sorry for screwing around with Chad... I know we're not together, but it was shitty."
Skylar looks down, unsure of what to say. "Have you been thinking about...?" not wanting to finish the sentence if he didn't want her back. Leaving it open to his interpretation. It could be anything she reminded herself. Wherever he takes it is fine.
She nods, trying to not give too much away. "Me too." she whispers.
She nods, missing him, it was so intense in this moment. "I would like that a lot." she said getting choked up.
She took a deep breath, knowing that they were starting over, that she had to be better, be stronger, be there for him and think about him first. She knew there was a lot of commitment involved and she was ready. When he first had picked her up, she was broken and out of control on the downward spiral. Now, she had learned what it felt like to stand up on her own, even if Lillian was there often. She missed Lillian, even though she saw her almost daily. She'd be at the hotel tonight, and she was sure that they'd talk for hours about it. She had became her mum, but also a friend to Skylar when she had no one else. She looked at him and said, "We should probably go inside, we can talk more if you want, while we're working." She knew that she didn't sound as chill anymore. And that was okay. She was going to learn ot trust him again, having a clean slate and she would be okay standing on her own. With him. Not being co-dependent which is exactly what lead them down the dangerous path they had been on before.
She could sense his unease through his smile and was glad to see that they were still in sync. She smiled back at him, ignoring the pounding in her heart, her thoughts running rampant in her mind. She needed to be careful and not fall in love with him again, not too fast anyway. The slight gesture of him opening the door made her heart smile as she walked in.
"Yeah, I was," she replies, wanting him to see that she was working on eating, even though she wasn't with him.
Skylar looks up at the waiter and says, "I'll have the same thing, please,"
She doesn't quite look at him when she says, "Oh just like a poster board with a collage on it and quotes like I said before."
Skylar said thank you too and looked just to the side of Liam, not trusting herself to fully look at him. All this time they've talked, she hasn't looked at him in his eyes.
She looks at him, really looks at him and she feels her heart break. "
Are you okay?" she asks concerned. She doesn't think he looks alright, not at all.
