Cozy mysteries rarely focus on sex, profanity, or violence
1. Read a book where the MC kisses someone
Cinco De Murder
1/18/222. Read a book with the potential for romance, but it doesn’t start yet
Basket Case
1/21/223. Read a book with a new romance
Silence of the Jams
1/5/224. Read a book where someone says the cozy version of profanity – dang, darn, heck, shoot, drat
The Labors of Hercules
1/12/225. Read a book with minor violence – vandalism, a physical altercation with no injuries or small ones, a verbal altercation
Cruise Chaos
2/1/226. Read a book where the death is first thought to be natural or accidental
Do or Diner
1/2/22Cozies usually take place in a small town or village where people know each other and the MC is an amateur sleuth
7. Read a book where the MC moves (or has recently moved) from a city to a small town or village
A Second Helping of Murder
1/30/228. Read a book with a busybody/gossiper
Murder, She Knit

Anchors Aweigh

Body and Soul Food
6/24/2211. Read a book where the MC works with law enforcement (usually one person who takes them seriously)
Caught Bread Handed
1/21/2212. Read a book where the MC is warned off or discouraged by law enforcement and solves the mystery without them
Murder in an Irish Village
3/6/22Cozy mysteries also seem to be part of a series that is centered around a particular theme, hobby, or interest, such as: puzzles, gardening, cooking, etc.
13. Read a book with your favorite theme
One Book in the Grave
2/19/2214. Read a book with a theme you haven’t read before

Murder in the Mystery Suite
3/3/2216. Read a book with a hobby/interest that you would like to learn more about
The Chocolate Bunny Brouhaha
3/15/22Contrary Cozies – these should still feel like a cozy to you
17. Read a book with a city as a setting
Decaffeinated Corpse
1/16/2218. Read a book with an MC who is a professional (law enforcement, PI, bond agent
Monument to Murder
2/25/2219. Read a book that doesn’t meet the traditional definition of a cozy, but gives you the feeling of one
They Do It With Mirrors
(a cozy before there were cozies) 3/12/22
Good job QPB!
I have got to stop looking at the books you posts. My TBR mountains are in danger of avalanche!

LOL MY IRL friend has the same problem. I keep recommending books for her. I pass on my Kensington Cozy Club Arcs to her and by the time she gets to them, there's a new entry in the series and then the author has another series and there's another ARC on my nightstand ... LOL! The upside to unemployment is more time to read.
