Comment book suggestions, the book you plan on reading, or the book you did read and a small review!

Larisa (Grantica_bere) | 11 comments May I ask for a bit of explanation here? What does "another country" mean? I guess in this group are people coming from different countries. Does that mean that we should read a book that is set in a country that is not where we currently live? Or is this a book set in a different country from the country where ie. the author comes from?

A book set in a different country than where you live! (:

Christina (talameo) | 22 comments Just finished A Farewell to Arms by Ernest Hemingway- it's set in Italy and has parts in Switzerland

I liked the variety and movement in this story. I was a little nervous because it's been almost 100 years since this book was first published but the writing was still readable. The dialog between some of the characters read like an old black and white film which I thought was cool. The end made me emotional and I was not expecting that.

Taylor Wilson-West (25thavenuewest) | 25 comments I read These Violent Delights, it's very historical, and there's a ton of world building. So if that's your jam, I hope you love it!

Lovey Stepsister - Jennifer Donnelly - 5 Stars

I loved this story! Reminds me that no matter how good we think we are, we are the villain in someone else's story--or vice versa! Can not wait to look into more Jennifer Donnelly books

Si (books & coffee) | 25 comments I just finished reading These Violent Delights for this square.

I did enjoy this book. I particularly enjoyed the world building and the main characters are great.

I gave this book 4*

From The Ashes (The Ministry of Curiosities #6) by C.J. Archer
Read: From the Ashes by C.J. Archer

Finished: January 22, 2022

Length: 9 Hours 24 Minutes

Rating: 4 Stars

Comments: Charlie has returned to Litchfield but a killer is still on the loose. Can she and the boys solve the mystery before anyone else dies? Will she and Lincoln reconnect and rebuild the future they were once heading for?

Vaish B (vaishubieber) I read Cilka's Journey for this box. Its about a girl Cilka who is in very harsh conditions in the 40s like a concentration camp and a gulag. She is a very brave girl who does what she can to survive . When I read the tattooist of Auschwitz, I was immediately drawn to Cilka and I was so glad this book came out.

This book is set in a poor town in Germany in the 50's. It is a tragic comedy.

Someone who used to live in that town became very rich, and she decides to visit her hometown again. She promises them €1 billion, if they kill the guy who was the reasons she had to leave all those years ago (who is the main character of the book).

It is actually the script for a play, so it was a bit difficult to read, especially since German isn't my native language and they used some abbreviations I had never seen before, but overall it was an enjoyable read.
