Linda C (libladynylindac) Oops, I meant to put that last on my 2022 page. I'll leave it here in case anyone finds it a useful format.

Nike | 117 comments I've got a question about the Square "Nonbinary or Trans Author".

I want to read "Albert Nobbs" by George Moore" a novel about transgender people in Victorian England. I haven't got the slightest clue though whether the writer was transgender or not. Does it have to be by authors that we know with a certainty that they are transgender or can a novel about transgender people count?

I think that is reasonable.

Thankyou, I'll stick to my plan then. "Albert Nobbs" was made into a wonderful movie a few years ago with Glenn Close as Albert Nobbs and the story has stuck with me.

Thank you Linda, that is quite helphul!

Viji | 85 comments I completed Lady of Horses by Judith Tarr. This is set in prehistoric days and when people lived as nomadic clans. They constantly moved on travelling along rivers, swamps etc. and fished and hunted for food.

Which of the following it would fit aptly:

E2 - Book about a journey
E3 - Rivers, lakes, or swamps

Need help with this. Thanks.

It sounds like either option would fit well.

Use this. Just get rid of the space between the first two characters, and it will work.

Rosalind | 4 comments is a memoir acceptable for the biography or autobiography square? I keep picking up things I think will be autobiographies that turn out to be described as memoirs.

If you want to be sure about getting a biography just choose one of a dead US president.

NancyJ (nancyjjj) | 25 comments I could use some ideas for Medieval Woman Author. Does this mean a female author who lived and wrote in the middle ages, or a female author who writes about the middle ages?

I have The Pillow Book by Sei Shōnagon on my TBR. It was discussed in another book I was reading by a Japanese author.

I debated that also, I choose to not do a memoir because it usually is about one specific area of their life while a biography/autobiography covers more of the persons life. I am currently reading Dearie the biography of Julia Child. I am enjoying it.

Nike | 117 comments I would like to ask another question. I'm having difficulty with finding a suitable book for Sports and/or Recreation.

I really don't like to read a book about sports. The books about yoga that I've got doesn't occur in any specific country. Then I came to think about a crime novel I read earlier this year by Elizabeth George. It's about the murder of a sports star. A lot of the book is set in the sphere of base ball. May I use that book for the Sports prompt?

From my interpretation either should work. I don't worry too much about having a specific country setting.
For the crime novel with a theme of baseball, I say that works too. It seems like the sports setting is a theme of the book.

If you wanted something different I enjoyed The Queen's Gambit (chess = recreation). Even though I am not a chess player I found the story to be engaging. The other one I read that would fit under this category is The Boys in the Boat: Nine Americans and Their Epic Quest for Gold at the 1936 Berlin Olympics (Rowing at the Olympics) Because this was based in history I enjoyed it and learned a lot about rowing that I would have never realized otherwise.
Happy Reading!

Linda C (libladynylindac) Is there going to be a 2023 grid? Hope so, I find such different reads when looking for some of the squares that have been used over the last few years.
