I own and have read the first 4 of this series. They are all really good. I think Lauren Elliott is an outstanding writer!

Remember that your second series is member's choice.

Another option I was considering is Paige Shelton's The Cracked Spine series. The bookish stuff is a little better than Lauren Elliott's books but are harder to get and more expensive if your library doesn't have them.

Your first choice - Beyond the Page series - sounds like a better option. It will be much easier for members to get the books in this series.
Have you picked your member's choice series?

A Very English Murder

They're not the most historically accurate books I've read but fun entertainment. I LOVE Gladstone, the bulldog.
QNPoohBear wrote: "Have we read Lady Eleanor Swift? They're set in 1920s Britain and available on Kindle Unlimited and apparently in paperback. (also on NetGalley) I picked up two at a used bookstore yesterday.

A Very English Murder is not on the group bookshelf. So it has not been picked before as a group read. Is that your second series?
fyi - I added it to the bookshelf.

and Verity Bright's Lady Eleanor Swift mysteries.
Verity BrightA Very English Murder

They're very cozy and fun. Light on historical accuracy so if you're the historically correct police like me, beware. I like the characters and the mysteries are typically pretty good even if Ellie continually wears her mother's old clothes from 20 years ago! Yikes! I just got approved from an arc of the newest one coming in May so it's a good time to read this series!

Helen wrote: "Great. I can join in both discussions, as I have the first in the first series, and have already read and enjoyed the second in the second. I’ll have to read the first now."
Awesome! I tried to choose books easily available in e-book format as well as print. I'm glad some libraries have Lady Eleanor Swift books. Ours never got them but thank goodness for Kindle Unlimited and NetGalley!

Does your library participate in the Interlibrary Loan program (ILL)? Our library is limited on what they carry, however, I use ILL for physical books (well, Large Print) since there are thousands (maybe millions?) offered through that program. If they don't, suggest it to them!

Yes, the whole state is connected and I request books online to be sent to the nearest library. I believe they do have ILL too. They usually buy me things when I ask but I try not to ask too often. Inner city budgets don't stretch very far. I've also had a subsrcription to a private library off and on and there are some good independent bookstores too if I really want something specific. I just didn't care enough to ask for Lady Eleanor Swift. They're entertaining enough when they're free but the historian side of me can't reconcile the inaccuracies. SOMEONE purchased the books though since I found two at a used bookstore so I'm guessing the library probably couldn't get them or said no.
Taylor is signed up for June, but her proile is private so I can't message her. Also, she hasn't commented in the group since early January.
Does anyone want to volunteer? I know it's last minute but it would be appreciated. It's ok if you've already chosen this year.
Thanks for all the help! Besides trying to catch up in regular life I've had some setbacks in complete recovery ( yeah, throwing up in the grocery store wasn't embarrassing at all 🤮).

Both choices look good Hilary. Neither series has been a group read before.
Thanks for helping out.

Double checked the Sarah Fox ones are on audio, sadly the Lena Gregory ones aren't, oh and the theme would be beverages!

A Literary Pub Mystery by Sarah Fox is also in audio. (I see you hit about the same time as I did, Hilary!)

Otherwise, I won’t be reading this month’s books!

I just saw this. I’m in Australia, so many American books aren’t available in libraries or bricks and mortar bookshops.

I have chosen the Calla Lily Mystery Series with Lily's Homecoming Under Fire as the 1st book by Anna Celeste Burke with the Wine/Vineyard theme. This series is available in Kindle edition and print.
My choice is the Braxton Campus Mysteries Series with Academic Curveball as the 1st book by James J. Cudney. This series is available in Kindle edition, paperback, hardcover, libraries, and in large print. Some books are available in Portuguese, Italian, Spanish, and German editions.

I can pick books again but I picked in November. I would like to give someone else a chance
For November I am choosing
In the Dog House for the theme of Cats/Dogs.
My other choice is
The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie.

I have read many of V.M. Burns Mystery Bookshop series and they are very good. (Poodles are great). Looking forward to trying the Dog Club Mystery series

If I have time next month, I might also download In the Dog House, as I like dog and cat mysteries.
