Veronica continued to sit. "I hate this she whispered."
Teddy knelt down beside her, prepared to give a speech on how she did a great job so far and how she should be proud of herself, but he heard something coming down the hall. He quickly turned at pulled out his knife, ready for whatever was out there.
"Stay seated and quiet." He told Veronica, "Please, just stay there."
"Okay." She whispered. Veronica felt broken inside. Blood dripped down her cheek like red tears. She felt like crying.
Teddy crept down the hall, cautious at every turn, just listening for any sign of someone, or something.He looked back at Veronica, she looked so sad. So, so broken.
Teddy jumped, he heard something. A growl.
He spun around and there, right behind was the second werewolf, glaring down at him. It's now or never he thought.
He re-gripped his knife and plunged towards the wolf, aiming for the heart. He stabbed and stabbed, not letting the wolf get a hold of him. The wolf scratched, and clawed, scraping whatever it could reach. The wolf took one last claw at Teddy's back, leaving his shirt torn in the back, but Teddy had an advantage, he stabbed the wolf's heart as the wolf was scraping his back.
The wolf fell. And died.
With that, Teddy knelt down in pain and submission. He'd completed the mission.
Veronica heard the growling and tearing. She tried to stand so she could help Teddy fight, but she slid right back to the ground. "Why do I feel so weak?" She whispered. Then it hit her and she screamed.
Penelope heard the scream and tears pricked her eyes. She thought of her mom and dad, her mom screaming for help, and she couldn’t do anything, but lay there helpless. She looked back up trying to forget and came to the top. That’s when she screamed and was pulled by someone…something…into the trap door.
Teddy heard a scream, and, even in his pain, ran towards Veronica. He couldn't let anything happen to her, not after Tyler had been hurt. He knelt down beside her, "What's the matter?" he asked, out of breath and his back throbbing.
Veronica was sobbing and whispering "no, no, no."
Teddy grabbed her by the shoulders, forcing her to look at him. "What is wrong?" he asked, in a commanding tone.
"I-I'm, turning into a werewolf."
Teddy stepped back, he was taken off guard by that."What--no--you--you, can't be. Not after everything you did, no, no." Teddy stammered, afraid of losing one of his only friends he made here.
"I'm showing all the signs. I'm tired, I'm weak, I'm starting to itch. It's all happening!" She buried her face in her hands. "I've trained all my life to hunt these monsters and now I'll become one if I don't get the antidote."
Teddy perked up at the word antidote. He became all serious now. "Where's the antidote?"
Veronica looked sadly. "I must consume an herbal concoction with silver in it to kill the werewolf in me, but I don't know how to make it."
She leaned her head back. "I didn't want to go this way. My father is going to be so disappointed."
Teddy grunted, he was so torn on what to do. His back was in excruciating pain, Veronica was turning into the very thing she'd hunted, and he has in the middle of it. Tears formed in his eyes, he was so lost.
The art room. he thought. Silver would be in there, it's used sometimes in medieval art.
Teddy bolted towards the art room, stepping over the dead werewolf, and looking through the drawers and cabinets of the room, in search of any silver.
Teddy screamed in frustration, he couldn't find it anywhere.
Just as he was about to leave the room something caught his eye, a little trinket box on a shelf in the corner of the room. He used the tip of his knife and pried it open. In the box was everything they needed for the antidote.
Teddy rushed back to Veronica, "I have everything we need for the antidote."
Veronica looked up with hope in her eyes. "Really?" Then she saw the blood streaming down Teddy's back. "It attacked you didn't it." She sighed. "Quite the bloody day we're having. Does it hurt much?"
Teddy knelt down beside Veronica, "Don't worry about me. I'll be okay. What do I need to do for the antidote? Just mix everything together?"
"It needs to be boiled in water. Do you think Ryenna could do it? If she's a healer then she has to boil things to sterilize them."
Teddy looked around, "We don't have time for her to do it, there was a stove in the art room. Do you think you can walk?"
Veronica nods. "Yes, just please hurry." She coughs and shakes a little.
Teddy helps Veronica up and leads her to the art room. "Sit there," he said as he pointed at a chair.
He stared warming up the stove and found a pot and poured the water from the box in there.
"You'll be okay, I promise." He said reassuringly as he worked.
Veronica smiles and closes her eyes. She was so tired.
Teddy worked and worked, mixing the antidote until it was just right. Sweat was running down his neck, if this didn't work then there was no hope for Veronica. "Here." he said as he added the finishing touches to the antidote. "Drink it."
He handed it to Veronica and prayed that it'd work.
Veronica weakly took it and drank it down. She promptly screamed in pain and wrapped her arms around her middle. "It's working, but it hurts. so. much."
Teddy panicked. Oh Lord, did I do something wrong? he thought. He sat down beside her, "I'm so sorry, about, everything."
Then he grimaced in pain, his back was killing him.
Veronica gritted her teeth. "It's going to take some time to work, so let's find Ryenna so she can fix your back."
Teddy looked over at Veronica and admired her attitude, she was in pain and struggling just to move, but she still looked out for others. He decided that very moment that he wanted to be more like that, more selfless. "Okay, I'll help you up the stairs."
Teddy helped Veronica up.
"I just wanted to let you know that it's been great getting to know you, even under certain circumstances. You're a great person." He said
Veronica laughed. "Your talking like one of us is going to die. Besides, everyone knows I act like a block of stone." She walked slowly down the hall.
Teddy laughed too, but he had truly meant what he had said. He didn't have many friends, this friendship meant a lot to him. "I hope they're still where we saw them last-ouch." he said as he reached for his back; it was soaked with blood.
Veronica was worried. "Are you okay? That back slash seems bad."
"Oh, I'm fine." Teddy said quickly, removing his hand from his back.
"I think I see them!" Then she falls. The silver counteracting with the werewolfness was very painful, since silver kills werewolves.
Teddy quickly went down to help her back up, but she didn't move. Tears were blurring his vision, he tried to pick her up, but his back was weak. "Veronica, please, get up, I can't do this without your help." Teddy said in a desperate voice.
Veronica was inside her own head now. Pain and reality were the same thing. She just wanted to hide inside one empty corner of her mind. She was so tired, which meant her body was fighting, but right now was too much. "Go on without me" she whispered.
Teddy was on the brink of crying, "No, you have to come with me."
The pain in his back was getting bad, but Veronica was worse.
Veronica very slowly stood up. 'Do it for Teddy' she thought to herself. She weakly started walking. "Come on slowpoke, let's find Ryenna."
Teddy stood up, his back aching. "Okay." Then he laughed, "You think I'm the slowpoke? We'll see 'bout that."
Penelope screamed again when a girl pulled out a knife…the one who had pulled her in. She took out her knives and with the speed of lightning, dashed out of the girls grasp. The girl threw the knife and it brushed Penelope’s cheek, leaving a cut. Penelope hissed in pain and dashed into a room. She touched the cut and blood began to pour. “It’s just a cut,” she told herself and she took deep breaths. She jumped out again and threw two knives at the girl, but the girl caught both of them and laughed…one that echoed throughout the castle. “You foolish girl.” Penelope looked stunned…was this the end. She pulled out her bow and began to shoot as fast as she could. Somehow, the girl would not die. Finally, Penelope took out her last arrow and shot it straight into the girls heart. The girl grasped her chest and fell to the floor and Penelope rushed to her side. “Who are you?” Penelope demanded…but it was too late. The girl was gone.
“Penelope!” *Inara shouted**she quickly climbed up the stairs.*
“Penelope” *she shouted again*
*when she got to the top, Penelope was right there at the top. It looked at if she was crying*
“Are you ok? What happened up here?”
*then noticed the girl at here feet*“Oh my! Who is she? What happened?”
Penelope let’s her tears fall, “I’m fine. I just killed someone, though. I feel terrible.” She wipes her tears and sniffs
*gives her a hug*“It’s ok. I’m guessing it was self defense. What happened?”

Veronica followed Teddy through the hallway, though the pain was hard to bear.
