Mark Porton | 92 comments I haven't read your comment William so writing this with squnted eyes BUT, greay to see Asanunder open up, and new adhesive now less looking forward to this! Ch 39

Mark Porton | 92 comments A great finish, all made sense when explained. However, I would never have guessed this one. I'm so glad Asunander played a significant part and it will be interesting to see how Barbarotti and Marianne will handle 7 kids in #3!!!

You know, in hindsight the whole Troae and Grandmother thing was all a bit suspicious hey?

Great story, great writer - again

Mark Porton | 92 comments Nor did I, but Troae did seem like an unbelievable character didn't she? In hindsight. Also, the grandmother just turning up at that holiday house one evening.

Nataliya | 79 comments Not reading any previous comments yet (on chapter 37 now):

So — we are about to have Barbarotti with newly empty bank account, Marianne (who I assume will have no problem transferring her job as a midwife), and between them four kids - two teenagers and two preteens? All living together?

They will need a bigger apartment. Hopefully Marianne’s bank account looks better than Barbarotti’s.

Nataliya | 79 comments “A completely different story”. What the title of this book is in Swedish. Smart.

Nataliya | 79 comments So… what detail in the Notes from Mousterlin tipped Asunander off?

And also - I wish the title remained faithful to original Swedish. That one was much better.

Nataliya | 79 comments I actually started rereading the notes to see what could tip people off. It is indeed interesting reading these and knowing who wrote them. But I don’t see a detail yet besides knowing that Henrik’s body is the only one that wasn’t found. Maybe it’s a combo of that and a bunch of “soft” details?

I have to admit I didn't suspect a thing...Back to Detective School for me ;-(

Neale | 16 comments I did not see it coming either. Very enjoyable when an author can keep you guessing right till the end. Don't worry Nat I will be joining you at Detective School. Ha!

The third book should be interesting with Barbarroti wanting to leave the force and settle with Marianne.

Am I the only one who feels that something is going to happen between Barbarroti and Eva? There is chemistry there. I know that he is marrying Marianne but it would sure throw a spanner in the works.

Loved the structure of the book with the killer's "Notes from Mouserlin" starting each part.

Also had to laugh when the "unstoppable" watch that Barbarroti purchased stopped the next day!!! Ha!

I have a feeling he won't be leaving the force quite yet, what with only hsving 6 kronor is his bank account, and going from a family of one to seven 🤗

I think you may be onto something with him & Eva. They have a great rapport, they're really comfortable with each other. With Marianne it's heady love. I guess all will be revealed...

I had a good laugh about the watch too. Well spotted.

I certainly hope not! The real male/female friendships tend to be quite underrepresented in literature, with most of them ultimately veering into some sort of romance territory. Which is ridiculous. I hope they remain good friends, especially since both of them have partners now. Not everything needs to end in a romantic and/or sexual relationship, and I hope Nesser keeps it in the friend zone.

Nat K (natnoir) | 155 comments I'm happy whoever Barbarotti ends up with. So long as it's not his ex-wife Helena. She sounds like way too much hard work.

I'm with you Nataliya, I reckon they're just the best of mates, and you're right about this being underrepresented in literature, movies
