Emily (readerlover1995) | 195 comments Best of luck, Veronica! Great selection! I’m wanting to read number seven on your list and have heard of the one on number 11. On your plus four, I’ve heard of the number four in that list; see it everywhere I go.
Good luck on your challenge! 🐾

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 800 comments Good luck, I haven't read any of these

Lea (leaspot) | 3636 comments Oooh, this list looks so much fun, Veronica! I liked It Ends with Us, and I have The Secret History and The Final Girl Support Group on my Individual Challenge. Most of the other books are on my TBR, I'm sure I'll want to read them even more after your reviews.

message 7: by Ioana (new)

Ioana | 2126 comments Ohhhh, Veronica....I haven't read any of these, and you usually have a way of adding to my TBR, so I expect 2022 will be no different. Good luck!

I have been on the fence wit It Ends With Us. But decided to put it on the list

Haha, put it on the list and decide later. I had a rough start with this book, but I felt like the ending came through and I actually liked it more than the two other books I've read by Hoover. Your mileage might vary, though, so don't hesitate to ditch it if it doesn't work for you.

Denise (derickert) | 1268 comments I enjoyed Magic Lessons, The Book of Magic and loved Golden Girl. Wish you the best of luck with your challenge.

As someone very familiar with Nantucket (I was there twice this year), I always wonder whether her fans have been there? Elin does regular signings at one of the two bookstores that draw considerable crowds.

Veronica (veraj121) | 232 comments Velvet Was the Night by Sylvia Morena-Garcia - 5 stars

This book was so mysterious, thrilling, and romantic. The history of political conflict in Mexico in the late 60's and 70's was incredibly interesting. MCs Maite and Elvis was great. You will fall in love with these 2. The chase between the characters will have you at the edge of your seat.

message 18: by Lea (new)

Lea (leaspot) | 3636 comments I read Mexican Gothic by Silvia Moreno-Garcia and was impressed by her ability to set an atmosphere. I'm glad to hear she can write all types of books, because this sounds completely different but also very good. Moving it up my TBR based on your review. :-)

message 19: by Veronica (new)

Veronica (veraj121) | 232 comments I loved Mexican Gothic.. You should watch the movie Skeleton Key.. Its with Kate Hudson in the South with the same premise

Veronica (veraj121) | 232 comments Completed The Final Girl Support Group 5.0

This book was excellent. It held my interest from beginning to end. It was funny and a thriller wrapped up in one. You will love this one.

Who is really the killer? You will love the plot twist

Veronica (veraj121) | 232 comments Golden Girl by Elin Hilderbrand 5.0 Stars

Elin Hildebrand is one of my favorite chic lit authors. This book did not disappoint. I love the story line. The characters were relatable. This book met me where I am at. There were parts where I shed a tear because it was soooo sweet.

Read this book this summer. It will not disappoint.

I loved this book. So different from how she usually writes but the same time it felt warm and familiar.

Veronica (veraj121) | 232 comments Magic Lessons by Alice Hofman.

I know I have not posted in awhile. So much going on. Life and career changes. Alondra checks on me.. Thank you, luv..

I love this group for that.Y'all the best. We should have all been in the same class as kids. So diverse. So respectful. And everyone feels comfortable just being themselves. Being with y'all is like being a part of a double/triple bow rainbow.

Ok.. This book was soooo good. The little bit of 1600 Brooklyn, NY ( Coney Island and Gravesend) was so interesting. The natural remedies was good to take note of. Some I actually used in the past.

I have to finish off the series soon

Good to "see" you again. Life and career changes, hopefully all good, sounds exciting.
I remember the Practical Magic movie, loved it, but I haven't read any of the books in the series. Hmmm, maybe I should...

Lea (leaspot) | 3636 comments I would have liked school a lot more if you all were in my class. :-)

Wishing you all the best with all those changes going on!

Your review on Magic Lessons was a good one. I tend to be hit or miss with Hoffman, some of her books are a bit to heavy in magical realism, but I've heard good things about the Practical Magic series. I'd love to read the books before I try out the movies. :-)

I agree with you with her books. But I seem to be addicted to the Practical Magic series

Veronica (veraj121) | 232 comments The Witch's Daughter by Paula Brackston. I really enjoyed this book. It scared me a little. I love the mix of fantasty, history and paranormal. It was written in a way that it was not corny. Almost dark. But real. I am looking for to reading book 2.

Question, has anyone read Billy Summers? I am so afraid to tackle this book. I love Stephen King. But he can be a hit or miss as of lately

Not yet. It's on my TBR gathering dust and cobwebs, like everything else. BUT; you know what won't be gathering dust!!???

Fairy Tale by Stephen King . I can't wait to read this!!!
