Hi, I'm a ninth-grade student, currently in the Pre-Uni server one. I have my video on, and my Pinterest account as my username (per the recommendation to do so when signing up) and an unknown account just direct-messaged me referring me a "lovely dear" and asking if I had Snapchat. I panicked and blocked them before I could take a screenshot of the messages they sent. I do have a screenshot of their username on Pinterest (MEMET TATAR).
My pinterest account is tiny and it is quite unlikely that someone with such intentions would stumble across it by chance. I understand that you're unable to do anything in this situation, as I don't know the username they were using in the server. I also understand that I did take the risk of having my video on and my user displayed. However, I came on here to study and be productive with other students and not to be sexualized by a stranger. It is making me extremely uncomfortable to think that there are adults in a designated Pre-Uni meeting looking at students and preying on them.
I would like to be able to use this platform for its stated purpose, which is to join a "global community of students who can motivate each other to succeed."
As I've stated, I'm aware that you are unable to do much. I would simply like to state that if I can't use the platform for its intended purposes and connect with students, I'll be unable to continue using it, which is quite upsetting because I was really enjoying it up to this point.
