Derek Fennell Many moons ago I read the first book in this series and thought it was pretty wild. Extremely unsettling and spooky, I felt it was one of the more original treatments of vampires i'd ever read. I did go on to read the second and the third book and it was starting to get fairly out there but still engaging.
Have those who have continued on beyond the third book enjoyed themselves? Is the larger universe worth investing oneself in?

Jonathan I’ve read all 18 books in the Necroscope series, I really enjoyed myself up until book 8, Bloodwars, and after that it got too repetitive. Books 6,7 and 8 are more science fictiony than books 1-5 but they’re still gory and scary and my favourite parts of the whole series.

Thanks for the info. I think I'll at least give the Vampire world books a shot. I still remember the chills of reading the dialogue between Boris and the voice of Thibor from beyond the grave over the years....'aaaah Drago saniiii' !
Such good stuff.

Marcy I've read them! I loved all of them, and have recommended them to a few friends that enjoy horror/vampire books.

Ok, good ! I think a bit of vampire reading will go down nicely for Christmas then.

Crimsonsabbath I've read them and loved them, but in my opinion the earlier books are much better than those later in the series. They just have the right mix of horror, fantasy, and thriller!
