I already asked my mum for recommendations as we don't have many reading habits in common, and I'm currently looking at The Cabinet of Curiosities or Except the Dying.
I've asked some friends of mine to see what their styles are and if I hear anything I'll look into them. If not I'll also go through my mom's library since we don't have many books in common.
My grandma has been trying to get me to read The Indian in the Cupboard since I was 9 years old so perhaps I will finally give in
Decided to go with a book on my mom's bookshelf. She reads a lot of Mexican themed books so I chose Luz at Midnight
I actually had a booktuber recommend to me (in a comment!) Seven Days in June. So I'm going to go with this one.
A friend of mine just gave me The Hare With Amber Eyes: A Family's Century of Art and Loss as a gift, so I am going to use it for this one.
I read The Radium Girls: The Dark Story of America's Shining Women at the rec of my coworker. I didn't love it. It was overly long and repetitive, IMO. I didn't know much about the radium craze, so I appreciated learning some new things, but it was hard to get through this one. 2.5/5 stars.
I'm not really into horror but my friend lent me The Crossroads at Midnight. It was good but still not my thing and left me slightly scarred!
I'm pretty sure this could count: Quit Like a Woman: The Radical Choice to Not Drink in a Culture Obsessed with Alcohol .I have not read books on drinking but it was recommended by someone close to me and the title sounded interesting. Plus I figured I'd give it a shot since alcoholism runs in my family and it would be nice to educate myself in that sense.
Okay I've officially decided on Interview with the Vampire .While I've read Twilight, I haven't exactly gotten into the real vampires when it comes to books yet.
If anyone's struggling with this, I can be your friend if our tastes are different! I like literary fiction, eco-fiction, and magical realism, and I recommend Cloud Cuckoo Land and The Overstory and Sharks in the Time of Saviors
I ended up going completely off the deep end with this prompt, as a friend recommended this alt-history book by Newt Gingrich called Days of Infamy. It definitely was outside my comfort zone reading wise, but was pretty engaging.
I listened to Fortunate Son: My Life, My Music on audible with my husband. He suggested it & our reading tastes are very different.
