This sounds pretty cool. I'm always trying to find new material on topics related to Mexican history.

Alex (papercraftalex) I wanted to read Gay Voices of the Harlem Renaissance but it is very textbook-like and I'm just not in the headspace for it. Instead, I read Grass, which is about "comfort women" aka sex slaves during Japanese imperialism in Korea. The WWII knowledge I have is very America-Europe oriented, so this fit in well as a different side of it. I can't say I enjoyed it, as it was such a sad topic, but I'm glad I read it.

Mandie (mystickah) | 218 comments I read Until We Are Free: My Fight for Human Rights in Iran by Shirin Ebadi for this prompt.

Emily Kruse | 22 comments I read Fen, Bog & Swamp: A Short History of Peatland Destruction and Its Role in the Climate Crisis by Annie Proulx. It wasn’t a concise historical period but still fits the prompt, I think, but I sort of think of historical periods as not just blocks of time but also places and other contexts. Anyway the important thing here is that I didn’t know much about wetlands and their historical importance or depletion and now I know a little more.
