Peaktopeak | 34 comments This was a fun book. I had some trouble with the setup so it took me a little while to get into the book. Once I did, I enjoyed the combo of comedy and deeply felt emotions. I love that sweet feeling you get when you know they are in love before they know they are in love! I have to say, though, I thought the sex scene was superfluous - it was kind of like she had to have one so here you go! Oh well.

On the sisters - while I enjoyed them and had no issues really, I think they were a little one dimensional. Poor Vee- such willful denial!

I liked Hugh! I agree he described himself as shallow etc but I was always wondering what the deal was ... the whole Standish blood thing ... I was frustrated that it took to the last second for me to get clarity on that. Poor Hugh - such self-flagellation!

But overall I liked it and I will definitely read another of hers.

I have seen a few mentions of the cartoon covers - in general, I am not a fan, they just seem so silly. So I probably wouldn't have picked this myself, but it turned out ok. I expected a comedy and the deep feelings were a nice unexpected bonus given my mindset.

This is how I experienced it too. It had some good heart to it.

Tanya Burke | 29 comments This was a fun read for me. I was either laughing or smiling the whole way through. I've added it to my favorites because I already want to re-read it. I'm ready for the next installment in the series as I'm anxious to see the next Merriwell sister's story. Given the way Heath drew the main two supporting characters, I have a feeling it will be an even bigger rollercoaster ride than this one was. Excellent selection to start my foray into the BOTM club!

Merry in and out for the next few days (jewelhound) | 855 comments I read 2 of the BOTM for Jan and have my February read ready from the library. I have enjoyed this month's theme.
