This book follows a young girl called Lima who comes home from school very hungry. It continues as she looks for food in the kitchen but nothing has satisfied her hunger. However a red hot chilli catches her eye.
She knows that her mother asked her to not take a bite however the red hot chilli pepper looks to good to resist, so the young girl takes a big bite which turns out to be a mistake. The book then continues to follow Lima as each of her family members give her foods to soothe the burn.
As a young girl I loved this book because It was fun to read and I always admired how the family came together to help the young girl. I loved how each family member had their own myths of what to eat after a spicy food. however reading it as an adult it represents something more than just a chilli pepper is spicy.
