Looking forward to your reviews because I am not a big NF reader but try to add a few every year.

Denise (derickert) | 1268 comments Finished my first non fiction today Being Patrick Swayze: Essential Teachings from the Master of the Mullet.
I loved the illustrations, games and trivia. I have been a fan of Patrick Swayze since watching the movie The Outsiders. This book did not disappoint. It was a great tribute to an amazing actor and man.

I'd forgotten he was in The Outsiders. What a great book that was, and not a bad movie either.

Denise (derickert) | 1268 comments House of Gucci A True Story of Murder, Madness, Glamour, and Greed by Sara Gay Forden . Gave it 4 stars.
A very detailed account of the history of the Gucci empire. I enjoyed the added pictures of the family that was included, it made the story more real. It was very interesting to read about all the legal battles that took place.

Denise (derickert) | 1268 comments Finished Lucky Man by Michael J. Fox by Michael J. Fox, gave it 4 stars.
This book will take you on a journey about Michael J Fox's early life and his battle with Parkinson's Disease. I have been a fan of Michael J Fox since his tv series Family Ties and was just a shocked as everyone when he announced his battle with his disease. This book was entertaining as well as inspiring.

This looks like a very interesting read. Also glad you like the MJF book. Going to find the time to read it this year!

Denise (derickert) | 1268 comments Finished Murder at Teal's Pond Hazel Drew and the Mystery That Inspired Twin Peaks by David Bushman , gave it 3 stars. As a fan of Twin Peaks I really wanted to love this book but I found it there to be too much repetitive back stories. The beginning of the book starts off so slow that it almost put me to sleep, however it does pick up the pace by the end.

Denise (derickert) | 1268 comments Finished I am Haunted Living Life Through the Dead by Zak Bagans , gave it 4 stars. I have been watching the TV Series Ghost Adventures since it came on and I love it. Interesting book about Zak Bagan's behind the scene adventures with spirits and demons he encountered. I enjoyed the chapters about the Demon House.

Denise (derickert) | 1268 comments Finished The End of Your Life Book Club by Will Schwalbe , gave it 5 stars.
This book was inspirational, powerful and emotional for me. It made me laugh, cry and made me think. I took away with me so many things after finishing this book that made me change my perspective on life and living it to the fullest. I can say that I haven't read most of the books that the author read with his mother in their book club, but I have added a few of those onto my never ending TBR. One of the quotes that really stuck with me was “That’s one of the things books do. They help us talk. But they also give us something we all can talk about when we don’t want to talk about ourselves.”

This has been on my TBR shelf for a while now, so glad to hear that you enjoyed it so much! I need to bring it up, hopefully soon. Thank you for reminding me about it.

Denise (derickert) | 1268 comments Completed Wishful Drinking by Carrie Fisher , gave it 4 stars. Short and sweet. She is sarcastic but not in overly negative way. It is filled with the ups and downs of her life but manages to take the reader on a humorous ride. I do wish that she was still with us as she was one of a kind just like her mother. I learned a lot about her and her mother Debbie Reynolds.
