Rosemary | 948 comments I only read two in January... so at that rate I calculate that it will take me just over 3 years :( but perhaps I will make it up to three this month LOL

message 102: by Meg (new)

Meg (megscl) | 1073 comments I managed 6 for Feb, which leaves me 8 rollovers.
How did everyone else go?

Meg, I assume you are counting January rollover in that eight total.

I read 6 so my count is 5 rollover February and 7 for January.

Yep i had 3 rolled over from Jan

I also managed 6 for Feb, Meg, though I have 9 rollovers so you did 1 better than me :)

message 106: by Lagullande (new)

Lagullande | 484 comments 6 in Feb for me too. Pretty happy with that considering its a short month and I read 11/22/63 which, at 800+ pages, is much longer than my average book.

Total 10 rollovers for me in March (5 from Jan, 5 from Feb).

message 107: by Rosemary (new)

Rosemary | 948 comments I read 3 in February. 18 rolling over... but I may not have so many other challenge books for the next couple of months.

message 108: by Tien (new)

Tien (tiensblurb) | 9032 comments Mod
why's that, Rosemary?

message 109: by Ines (new)

Ines (innit13) | 59 comments I just finished 7/18 but I'm still reading another february book, which I started rather late and which has over 600 pages. As stated before, I've decided not to be too strict about it as long as it gets me to read more. I need deadlines for motivation but that doesn't mean I need to meet them XD

So I had to go back and refresh myself on the rules. I'm doing better than I thought, but still not good. So far I have read 4 and am reading a March book now. So 5 so far.

message 111: by Lisette (new)

Lisette (illusie) | 3233 comments That's great Lyn!

message 112: by Rosemary (last edited Mar 31, 2022 01:34PM) (new)

Rosemary | 948 comments Ah, I am improving! I read 2 in January, 3 in February, 4 in March... so if I carry on like this, I will finish the challenge within the year, just kind of the wrong way round :)

Lyn (Readinghearts) (lsmeadows) | 2895 comments Mod
Me too. I got 4 March Books in!

message 114: by Bea (new)

Bea | 5304 comments Mod
I still have 2 in progress for March. I plan to finish them soon and will count them along with the 9 already completed. Some of those were from the carryover numbers.

My count going into April for carryover is now:
Jan 5
Feb 2
Mar 4

Slowly catching up.

I will probably never catch up as I have a current rollover number of 25, but I hope to start hitting the original month total soon.

message 116: by Meg (new)

Meg (megscl) | 1073 comments I read 8 for march, so my total rollover is now 10

LOL!! Finishing is what counts ;)

Tien (tiensblurb) | 9032 comments Mod
I managed quite a bit in March so my rollover into April is 7 :D

message 119: by Rosemary (new)

Rosemary | 948 comments What would you do with a DNF for this challenge? Would you count it or not?

message 120: by Tien (new)

Tien (tiensblurb) | 9032 comments Mod
Since this challenge is not limited to what's already on your TBR, I'd say DNF doesn't count.

If, for some reason, you've already limited yourself to your TBR only, I'll leave that up to you ;)

message 121: by Lagullande (last edited Apr 04, 2022 12:54AM) (new)

Lagullande | 484 comments I'm doing ok - 7 in Jan, 6 in Feb, 6 in Mar - so I'm only a couple off schedule.

I'm really enjoying this game, though. It's giving me a really good focus on choosing what to read next, and it's making me read what I've got on hand instead of buying shiny new.

message 122: by Tien (new)

Tien (tiensblurb) | 9032 comments Mod
Great to hear that, Lagullande... it does help me narrow down choices definitely which sometimes isn't that good if I'm not in the mood for that.

Rosemary | 948 comments Tien wrote: "Since this challenge is not limited to what's already on your TBR, I'd say DNF doesn't count."

Ah yes, that makes sense. Anyway I peeked ahead in the book and it looks like it gets more interesting, so I will continue with it :)

message 124: by LaurLa (new)

LaurLa | 1385 comments I read 10 in March which was the goal for March... but I still have all my rollover from Jan-Feb to read - 14... plus April goal! Will I ever catch up?

LaurLa wrote: "I read 10 in March which was the goal for March... but I still have all my rollover from Jan-Feb to read - 14... plus April goal! Will I ever catch up?"

YES!! The monthly goal numbers decrease so you'll be ok :)

message 126: by Ines (new)

Ines (innit13) | 59 comments My March count: only 4. This was not a good month for reading, but I'll try to use my commute more efficiently. I'm also starting to see a flaw in the "count everything you started that month" strategy. I finished a February book well into March and consequently the same has happened with my March books in April. I will have to be more strict with myself. Though I have another very long French book planned and I doubt I'll be done by May.

Let's see how it goes!

message 127: by Bea (last edited May 02, 2022 01:48AM) (new)

Bea | 5304 comments Mod
Still somewhat behind on this game as I have 20 books to read for May (including 12 carryovers). However, in my May planning, I realized that the majority of my reads (13/20) are from my TBR and are books that I haven't ever planned for any other challenge! That's a lot of unknown (perhaps future LOST) books! This game really is working my TBR.

message 128: by Tien (new)

Tien (tiensblurb) | 9032 comments Mod
I did fantastically well this month too - I read 12 which leaves me 4 (overall) rollover which brings my goal for May to 12.

message 129: by Rosemary (new)

Rosemary | 948 comments I read an amazing 11 in April! So my rollover is only 22 LOL
In May I have other challenges to read for so it will be harder to fit a lot in, but I have a list :)

message 130: by Meg (new)

Meg (megscl) | 1073 comments I read 6 in April and my rollover is 13

message 131: by LaurLa (new)

LaurLa | 1385 comments A very bad month :-(
Read 3... my rollovers are now 20!

I feel I am doomed 😲

message 132: by Tien (new)

Tien (tiensblurb) | 9032 comments Mod
Don't worry, LaurLa, remember only 1 in December so you can still catch up :)

message 133: by LaurLa (new)

LaurLa | 1385 comments A better May... Goal 8, Read 10, Rollover down to 18 - woohoo!

message 134: by Bea (last edited Jun 01, 2022 02:37AM) (new)

Bea | 5304 comments Mod
I have 10 for carryover into June: May 3, Apr 4, Mar 2, Feb (carryover completed), and Jan 1.

I am hoping to complete Jan, Mar, and Apr carryovers and read 5 of June's. That would make 12 books...a do-able amount, I think. I own 3 of that amount, which I can start right away.

message 135: by Meg (new)

Meg (megscl) | 1073 comments I only read 4 this month so my rollover is up to 17

message 136: by Christina (new)

Christina (cmb1987) | 161 comments Going to have to withdrawal from this one. I had a baby and this is a tad too time intensive for the time I have remaining with a newborn lolol.

message 140: by Meg (new)

Meg (megscl) | 1073 comments I managed a good month in June with 8 - rollover down to 16

June
GOAL: 7 + 17 Rollover
✔️1.Mrs. Everything pub Jun 19
✔️2.Any Way the Wind Blows added Jun 20
✔️3.Still Life published June 21
✔️4.So You Think You Know What's Good for You? added Jun 21
✔️5.An Exciting and Vivid Inner Life published Jun 22
✔️6.To the Lighthouse added Jun 14
✔️7.The Fated Sky added Jun 21
✔️8.Obsidio added Jun 21
Read: 8
Rollover: 16

message 141: by Bea (new)

Bea | 5304 comments Mod
I read 3 for June and 6/10 of my rollovers for a total of 9 books.

I now have January, March, April, and May rollovers of 1 each to complete plus 4 for June. So...July rollovers = 8.

message 142: by Rosemary (last edited Jun 30, 2022 07:37AM) (new)

Rosemary | 948 comments I can't believe how this is working out :) My rollover has started to shrink, it's now down to 21, which still sounds a lot, but I worked out I only have to read 7 books a month for this now, which should be possible because I am coming to the end of some big annual challenges... yay!!

(Tien, you are entitled to say "I told you so" ;) )

Bahaha!

but seriously, so good to hear it working out lol

I wasn't gonna brag but my rollover as at 0 now, woohoo!! I've had huge reading months in May & June so I'm quite pleased :)

message 144: by LaurLa (new)

LaurLa | 1385 comments Well, after making progress in May, not so much in June. Goal was 7 plus 18 rollover. Read 4 so now I'm back up to 21 rollover!! 😯

message 145: by Ines (last edited Jul 10, 2022 11:51PM) (new)

Ines (innit13) | 59 comments I'm back after a long break. I've had a lot of stress and not much time or mind to read, so I'm currently at 40(!) books for July and I haven't even started yet ^^'
I partly blame a book I've been reading for the past 3 months (counting it because I finished it and it cost me so much!), two DNFs and just general exhaustion. The rising numbers seem daunting now and I wonder if the month rule is still as motivating to me as it was in the beginning. We'll see.

message 146: by Meg (new)

Meg (megscl) | 1073 comments Oh dear, i think i only read one book for July!

message 147: by Tien (new)

Tien (tiensblurb) | 9032 comments Mod
oh no... what's your total rollover, Meg?

message 148: by Bea (last edited Aug 01, 2022 01:50AM) (new)

Bea | 5304 comments Mod
Meg, I only read 3, but I did get some of my rollovers knocked off.

My total rollover for August is 7. Some of the books I have planned for this month are books I have been avoiding for a long time. I think I will tackle them first.

message 149: by LaurLa (new)

LaurLa | 1385 comments Made decent progress!!

July Goal ➺ 6 books + 21 rollover
July Actual ➺ 10

Rollovers are not down to 17!! Woohoo!!
