Best of the lot was "Midnight Wings: A Science Fiction Retelling of Cinderella" - I've read a lot of romantic, urban fantasy, and fantasy retellings of Cinderella, and I think this is the best at both capturing the spirit while also bringing it firmly into the new genre. I think this story could stand on its own as a story, and as a retelling, and works even better as both.
I'm firmly past my reading goal of 60. Everything else is extra, which is good because I am working a lot of hours -hence only finishing 3 books in November.

Oh, I love fairy tale retellings! I might have to check that one out. It reminds me of one of my favorite all time fairytale retellings "Cinder" which is a steam punk/sci fi Cinderella retelling. Have you read it?

This month I read…
Hiroshima by John Hersey- I read this for the Pages from the Past Book Club and really enjoyed it. I had never read any first hand accounts of the bombing in Hiroshima before, although I had heard a lot about it. There were lots of parts that were hard to read and just sad, but I’m still glad to know more about this event and the lives of those it affected. I highly recommend it if you’d like to know more about this tragic event in history.
Sarah's Key by Tatiana de Rosnay- I listened to this book on audio. The premise of this book has caught my eye several times, I just haven’t picked it up until now. Overall it was pretty meh. I was left wanting more of Sarah’s story and less of Julia’s for sure. We get to see a glimpse of what happens to Sarah after the horrible experiences she had in 1942 through Julia’s story, but I wish I could have seen more from Sarah’s perspective.
The Last Graduate by Naomi Novik- This series is awesome! The world of the Scholmance, the snarky yet lovable narrator, the enemies to lovers trope; it’s all fabulous! I loved diving even deeper in the Scholmance and learning more about it. Novik has done such amazing world building and really expanded it in this sequel. My one complaint is that the cliffhanger this book ended on was just plain mean. I’m going to need the third book now Naomi, not in a year, thank you.
The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue- I listened to the book on audio and loved it! There were so many breathtaking moments that were just beautiful, and the ending too! That being said, there were a few places, specifically in the 2nd third of the book, where it lost me a bit and it didn’t seem like much was going on. I still highly recommend this book though.
