Kate S | 6459 comments I have been on a journey, since my husband died, with finding who I am. I have discovered several interests and hobbies: camping, photography, birding, gardening, stargazing, genealogy, shooting, and reading. Read a non-fiction book reflecting an interest in your life. This task cannot be claimed for combo.

Please post any questions about task 10.9 in this thread.

Elizabeth (Alaska) | 14224 comments Thanks for this task, Bea. I have been lookng for extra motivation to read Talking about Detective Fiction. I will make an extra effort to actually get to it.

(And thanks, too, to Tien for her generosity in passing the task to Bea in honor of her first Mega finish!)

Rosemary | 4275 comments Great task! Could this be a biography of an author whose books I enjoy reading? Or is that too much of a stretch?
Nancy Mitford

Bea Oh, Tien, thank you! I was so very excited to get this chance. I hope to read something on stargazing and am looking at Turn Left at Orion: A Hundred Night Sky Objects to See in a Small Telescope - And How to Find Them.

I would think a biography of an author you've read extensively would fit well. Your definition of extensively. ;-)

Mary | 1398 comments One question: does the interest need to be the same each time you claim this task or can it differ with each use of the task? For example could I claim a book about birds and then one about geology and a third about art? Or would all three need to be about one interest? Eg three books about birds?

Thanks

You may have multiple interests.

Agatha Christie would be ideal, then...
But have realised this type of book will fit 20.9 for more points, so may rethink ;)

Rosemary | 4275 comments I have Agatha Christie: A Biography by Janet Morgan.

Also I know that my parents are giving me for Christmas a book about something related to the way Agatha Christie plotted her books, but I don't know the title. They just asked me if I would be interested in that, and I said yes. I will try to remember to come back and tell you after Christmas :)

Thanks! And yes, your anticipated Christmas gift sounds really interesting!

Tien (tiensblurb) | 3095 comments You're very welcome, Bea xo

It's great that you've discovered all these interests. The one that jumped out at me was shooting! OoO... riffles & targets, yes?

When Ed was alive, we went to a gun show, and I picked up a pistol that fit my hand. Since he has died, I haven't had much an interest (until recently) in getting better at using it. Done all the gun courses...just need to get comfortable with shooting it. Targets, yes. Rifles, not yet.
