I've only read Krakatoa and it was great. Your other selections all look interesting. I hop to read more non-fiction in 2022.

I do most NF on audio. Winds up kind of feeling like a documentary and goes much faster!

Ioana | 2137 comments I love your list, lots of variety. I haven't read any of these, only the original The Boys in the Boat: Nine Americans and Their Epic Quest for Gold at the 1936 Berlin Olympics, which was excellent.
Here's another good one that I'm currently reading: The Informant
Good luck and can't wait for your reviews.

I read The Informant a couple of years ago and what I remember is that I found a part of it so interesting I stopped what I was doing to listen. Of course, I was standing in the produce department (and no doubt in someone's way) at the time....

It's truly fascinating, I can't stop listening to it...I really need to know how it will end. I know I could probably check Wikipedia 😉

I've never even considered that with nonfiction. I listen to either fiction or a podcast as I go to sleep at night. I may try this.

I'm fortunate in that I work in an office by myself and wind up with a lot of time at work where I can listen to books and still get things done. Otherwise, I assure you, I would not have gotten through 1/10 of what I've read this year and probably would have left some "monster" books alone. I "read" The Glory and the Dream: A Narrative History of America 1932-72 on audio this year and it turned out to be one of hands down the best books, fiction or non, I've ever read. But even on audio it clocked in at 57 hours, and I listen "faster" than 1x speed and it still took several days to get through! But SOOOOOOO worth it.

I'm so jealous! I need to read and write constantly at work...I can't listen to audiobooks, I think they use the same part of the brain used for reading comprehension and writing.
