I think I will read Alberta and Jacob by Cora Sandel of Norway, which appeared in the 2012 edition of "1001 Books..." Has 567 ratings.

I'll send you my paperback copy of this book if you need one. I read it last year. I thought it was good. You can message me your address.

Luke (korrick) Tent of Miracles by Jorge Amado, which is on my 2022 docket, currently barely squeaks in at 999 ratings. Whether I end up being the 1000th remains to be seen.

Christelle (angel85qcca) | 17 comments Memoirs of a Peasant Boy only has 600 ratings (and is quite short).

Hurry! Read it quick!
Just kidding, I think if it was under 1000 when you chose it, it should qualify.

Amanda Dawn | 265 comments I try to read a few of the not-translated to English books a year, so hoping I can use "Port" or "Margot and the Angels" for this one, but if I read another one first, will do that.

Yrinsyde | 295 comments I plan to read Tales of a Tub by Johnathon Swift - it has just over 700 ratings.

I found that this book has over 1700 ratings. I've been wanting to read it, but it had too many ratings for this scavenger hunt. I'll wait for a different category.

With only 51 ratings, Forever a Stranger and Other Stories fits easily.

Amanda Dawn | 265 comments I think I'm actually going to go with The Christmas Oratorio which has 78 reviews (and is available on open library as an accessibility heads up to people).

But, I also just finished Love in Excess for the "love" book, and it also has only 86 reviews for anyone interested in using that one.

It should be less than 1000 RATINGS, not reviews. The Christmas Oratorio has just over 900 ratings so it's good.
Love in Excess has about 1500 ratings so that one doesn't qualify.

Shereen | 78 comments I read Memories of Rain by Sunetra Gupta which has 144 ratings (including mine). In reading this I realised that the 1001 book has misprinted the title as 'Memoirs of Rain' rather than 'Memories of Rain'.

I'm switching to Life Is a Caravanserai, which I started yesterday. Has just 219 ratings.
PS: finished it in June and liked it a lot.

That's interesting. The googledoc sheet does list it as Memoirs of Rain. The goodreads entry on Ms Gupta says "Sunetra was born in Calcutta in 1965 and wrote her first works of fiction in Bengali." and apparently this is one of them. A mis-translation error then? The goodreads entry for her does list the book as "Memories..." as you probably noted. I have a copy of the original Boxall book 2006, and it wasn't in that edition.

I think there should be a special award for the book read that has the lowest number of goodreads ratings ! (<:)
Looks like Sean could be the winner!
Sean, I'm impressed that the university library here in Salt Lake City has a copy of Impressions of Africa in English & another in French.

I read A Day Off by Storm Jameson which currently has 90 ratings.

James Spencer (jspencer78) | 258 comments Re Pilgrimage, that claim is a little misleading. Published in 13 volumes, the individual pieces (Richardson called them “chapters” according to Wikipedia) and subsets have hundreds of reviews. Still, reviews of the whole probably total less than 1000.
