Ryan Milovich Book Review #4
The Only Thing To Fear by Caroline Tung Richmond

Summary: In the book The Only Thing To Fear by Caroline Tung Richmond, it is
decades after WWII, it’s a different world due to a different outcome in the war. The Axis powers had won the war and have taken over the globe. The former US are now divided into western and eastern territories; the west controlled by the Japanese and the east controlled by the Nazis. Generations of Hitler descendants have controlled the globe. Zara is a 16-year-old living in the Eastern Territories is despised by most due to here heritage. She is part Japanese from here father’s side and half American from her mother. There is a rebellion brewing and trying to recruit members. Zara wants to join the rebellion but her uncle forbids it, even though he part of the rebellion himself. The rebellion has to overcome super soldiers that were developed in labs in Germany. Zara must find a way into the rebellion and a way to defeat the Nazis.

Opinion: It was a good book, but most of the beginning chapters set up what happens next and do not have a lot of action but do have important details. Important details like Zara’s heritage and what is going on and what happened in the past set up the book in a way for the reader to understand everything that is happening. When Zara wants to help her uncle steal medicine from the Nazi camp, she is denied because she has something about her that cant be controlled and you later find out what and why it is important.

Recommendation: I recommend this to readers who enjoy historical alteration books, and some post-apocalyptic as well.
