Hi All. Shirley and I want to read Paradise Regained by John Milton It may not be necessary to have read Paradise Lost before Paradise Regained because Lost is about the temptation of Adam and Eve while Regained is about the Temptation of Christ. We are thinking of reading in May.
Anyone/Everyone is free to join.
Thanks Sara. Shirley and I have firmed up plans to read Paradise Regained by John Milton in June. Would you please put it on the schedule the next time you update buddy reads list?
Yes, this time I will not forget the name of the group, I wanted to read Paradise Lost too but I am currently reading Paradiso by Dante, which I will finish in May ( i will be traveling whole of April), so I am free in June to undertake the journey of Paradise Regained.
No problem, Phrodrick, happens to the best of us.
Sam, King Hedley is added.
I have also setup the thread for The Tenant of Wildfell Hall. It is a previous spoiler thread for a group read, so be aware there are many spoilers if you read above the new Buddy Read setup.

I am finishing the

or starting another multi volume read
.I would love to have some buddies to help me through, Any one interested?

A few days ago I started and am now about to finish The Danger Tree, the first book in The Levant Trilogy : Danger Tree' 'Battle Lost and Won' and 'Sum of Things. I'd be happy to conduct a blitzkrieg on anything you'd like to say about the books.
Also, FYI, the Reading the 20th Century group is doing a 2024 monthly read of the 12 books of A Dance to the Music of Time. I read it about 18 years ago but do not feel up for a re-read yet. Here's a link to the January thread for the first volume: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...
I'll be reading Effi Briest and Fifth Business this month and would love it if anyone would join me for a buddy read of either/both these books. Is anyone interested?
Terry, Terris and I are planning to read The Chosen by Chaim Potok in October, in case anyone else would like to join us!
Oh, that sounds fascinating. I’m trying to diversify my reading this year, so I’ll prioritize this one for October. 👍🏻
The Chosen sounds good. . . .I am reminded of a Robby Benson movie where he played Jewish boy about the time of the creation of the State of Israel.

I remember reading this book in my early 20s and being so moved by it. I've been meaning to re-read it because I know I could appreciate it so much more now. So happy you set up a Buddy Read for it! I know it's going to be great. Thank you!
I would also enjoy reading "The Chosen," and remember reading it as a teenager. My grandson was recently assigned the book in his high school 11th grade English class so I've seen it go from best seller to classic status.
Lori wrote: "I would also love to read The Chosen."I thought you'd be interested, Lori! Glad you're joining :)
Sara wrote: "I think all of us who read Asher Lev are excited for The Chosen."That's me! Looking forward to October. :-)
Several of us are planning to read Miss Mole by E.H. Young in July. Anyone who would like to join us is most welcome.
Cynda--will this work for you?

This is great--thank you, Sara!

Trying to decide between Kindle or these paperback:
Used/Old Virago:
; New Dean Press:
& New Virago:
While I like the Dean Press cover and editions generally, it is only 250 pages and the new Virago is 300+ pages, so its font size and/or line spacing will likely be more palatable to my old eyes. The used/old Virago's are priced to make it preferable to buy a newer edition. And I think I want a physical copy and not a Kindle.
* Goodreads states this about what sparked Young's creative streak:
"Her husband was killed at the Battle of Ypres in 1917. The following year she moved to Sydenham Hill, London to join her lover, now the headmaster of the public school Alleyn's, and his wife in a ménage à trois. Young occupied a separate flat in their house and was addressed as 'Mrs Daniell'; this concealed the unconventional arrangement.
This change seems to have been the catalyst that she needed."
The face of a "menage a trois" participant:

Sara , I'll be joing too . The blurb looks interesting .
I , too , read the account of E H Young's personal life , given below the blurb . Was the headmaster 's wife aware of what was going on ? If so , how terrible, mean and selfish of E H Young and the headmaster .... just spoiling an innocent woman's life for their own pleasure 🤔 .

How interesting! Who knew there were “throuples” in 1918?!!

Glad you will be joining us, Savita. I think the headmaster's wife was a participant.

Please count me in for the Miss Mole Buddy Read. I've never heard of the book or its author, E.H. Young, but both sound fascinating!

Thank you, Terris! I'm looking forward to reading with you again. This sounds like it's going to be a great book.
