My name's Alec. Bullies hate me.

James Michels | 7 comments Hi, I'm Jim, and I'm constantly in and out of jail... because I work there as a guard. But that's just my day job. My real career is crime fiction writing. Right now, I have one book a crime thriller called Ice Rising, published and another book, a crime thriller/romance titled The Ballad of Johnny Carlo, in pre-launch.

We need to hear that demo, or I'm not gonna believe it.

Anthony Smith (anthonyneilsmith) | 23 comments I don't need this sort of skepticism. I'm gonna bounce.

message 7: by Poppy (new)

Poppy | 2 comments Hello, I'm Poppy.
I work in hospitality: a plush establishment, patronised by more gentle, conservative folk. I work. I walk. I read. I work. I walk. I read.
I don't know just yet what I really wanted to read, I'm just picking books from the small library where I work. I hope to find friends and share thoughts on what I do read.
I'm very new to this: I'm all ears or should I say, "All eyes."

message 8: by Matt (new)

Matt Orlando (mattyobooks) | 4 comments I’m Matt Orlando author, screenwriter, and director. I like to diversify my books (Truncated: Apocalyptic and Loving It! & Migrant) and screenplays between humorous and serious so that I can taste stories of many flavors and characters, and so I don’t let myself get put into a lane. I like winding roads… with many forks. Who knows, maybe I just like getting lost.

Check out my work on Amazon or my website: https://mattorlandobooks.com

Lawrence | 3 comments Peeking in to say hi. Lawrence here. Avid reader, but lately i've had to stick to short stories of crime and noir. My attention span is struggling.

I'm not really a writer, but i've dabbled now while in semi-retirement. I look forward to following the group.

Gabbi | 1 comments HI, I’m Gabbi. I’m British and living in Italy for now.
Books have become my thing.

message 14: by Molly (new)

Molly | 2 comments Hi,
I'm new to this. Most of the modern day thrillers do little for me. I am interested in finding books outside of the mainstream.

I'm happy for recommendations and making friends.

Kami | 1 comments Hello, I answer to Kami. I'd be most interested in reccs and finding friends.

message 17: by Gail (new)

Gail | 1 comments I'm Gail. Everyone calls me Frenchy (you can work it out). I'm a reader that one day wants to write a book. I'm only 26 and have lived in almost every country in Europe. My parents are in banking. Privately schooled and have holidayed in countless places.

message 18: by Jayne (new)

Jayne | 1 comments Hi all. I’m keen on reading thrillers. Any recommendations will be gladly received.

Dottie (I'm not dotty) | 1 comments I'm Dottie. If you read my profile, you'll probably believe I'm dotty. I'm not dotty, I'm Dottie. I live in Scotland. I was born in England and count myself as British.

I might be a little crazy in trying to reduce my carbon-footprint to its minimum but, I'm not dotty. I'm Dottie!

I have a clothes recycling effort - it makes mums and their little-ones happy, happy, happy. And... I like sleeping in the garden. I shower in the garden too: with rain water. The health nutters drive to the beach, the lake, the river, every morning and take a swim - it's so healthy for them. Leave the car in the garage: take a cold shower; better still, shower in the garden in rain water. That makes so much sense. You see, I'm not dotty. I'm Dottie.

Friend me. :)) I'm not dotty.

Daniel Gardner | 2 comments Hey all, Dan here. I'm new to this. I'm a musician by trade and I recently completed writing my first novel, a kind of rock and roll noir. I found a great indie publisher for the book and we're getting it in shape. Thanks for having me.

message 22: by Zoe (new)

Zoe | 2 comments Hello. Everyone I know calls me, 'Zo'. I'm from a big family, my siblings are all girls. We are a family of amatuer academics. My parents who met at university and then walked out, and my parents are incredibly wise, many years ago called university (universities), 'An institution of ideological fruit cakes.' I'm here to learn from what I read. Thrilling reads are on my menu, not outlandish thrillers. Recs anyone?
Ohh, yeah. Friends would be good!

I've read your profile, I'd say you're, discerning.

message 24: by Mandy (new)

Mandy | 1 comments Hello all,
I'm a uni student from Britain. I've never been overseas and I'm wanting to read about life at all points of the compass. I read about the world we live in because I can't afford to travel. I focus my reading on real-world fiction and non-fiction; recommendations are welcome - as are friends.

message 25: by Erin (new)

Erin | 1 comments Hi everyone,

A single girl from West England and struggling to make ends meet.

I'm a signed up member of the local library and I'm an ebook fan (it's a cost thing) and have the Kindle app on my laptop.

The library has a book group. I thought of joining, but coffee and a bun costs an arm and a leg: I'll stay home.

message 26: by Fiona (new)

Fiona | 1 comments My cousin, Carol and I, are trying to find our way in the world. We thought it might be a fair idea to read about it.

It would be nice to make friends and swap recommendations.

message 27: by Gisela (new)

Gisela | 1 comments Good'day, mates,
I'm from Australia and reading what I can, it ain't much but, what the heck. Italian family, bloody heaps of 'em. And, I've hair to cut, and style.

message 28: by Bridge (new)

Bridge | 1 comments Hi, I'm Bridge. I'm 26. I'm shy. I'm single and aiming to stay that way for a good few years yet. I'm working and other than reading and work, I have a house with a garden (left me by my grandmother) that keeps me fit.

I love reading good real life fiction.

message 29: by Kori (new)

Kori | 4 comments Just a girl. Struggling to stay in the black and now reading to learn and not to escape.

Friends and recommendations would be nice.

message 30: by Daniel (new)

Daniel Gardner | 2 comments Hey Kori. Two quick ones for you - James Sallis and Tony O’Neill.

message 31: by Meg (new)

Meg | 1 comments Hello, I'm Meg and I live in Greater Manchester. I'm in study, have a room in a house and enjoy my books. I'm being pulled toward the realm of realistic fiction, memoirs and geo-political thrillers.

message 32: by Val (new)

Val | 1 comments Hi all,
I’m a Scot, living in Scotland and working in the food standards industry.
Thanks for letting me in, I hope to learn lots from being here.
Please add me :))

message 33: by Jem (new)

Jem | 1 comments Hi all, I'm living in London.

As every month comes there are fewer and fewer pennies in my pocket: I’ve only myself to blame, I voted…….. Staying in is actually more enjoyable than I first thought: books, books, and more books appeals.

Please friend me.

message 34: by Jules (new)

Jules MacLeod (julesmacleod) | 1 comments Hi Everyone, I have two books published in my debut crime fiction series - Shadow of Justice, which are available on Amazon & KU https://amzn.to/4dMs4QP Book 3 is a WIP.

A tale of murder, intrigue, and revenge. Join NYPD Detectives Josh and Bobby in an international crime thriller set in New York and beyond. What to expect: suspense, paranormal, mystery, action and twists

I would greatly appreciate your support/follow/review in my new writing adventure, whilst it is "thrilling", it's also pretty daunting and scary out there all alone as an unknown newbie! T.I.A.😕

message 35: by Zara (new)

Zara | 1 comments I'm Zara,
I'm a trauma nurse. I’m exhausted and need sleep. Nothing new. Be my friend and accept that when I'm not working, I'm sleeping. Be my friend anyway. I don't go out. I work. I eat. I sleep.

I don't read chick-lit, romance, fantasy, sci-fi or any other escape lit. I read about what is happening in the world. Please send recs....

I get hit-on everyday, please, please, I'm here for books and nothing but books.

PinkSparklyJess (pinksparklyjess) Hi everyone! I joined this group with broadening my horizons in mind. I am currently at the tail end of my maternity leave and have been reading like crazy! I love the idea of getting into more indie books but I don't really know where to start. Hopefully this group will provide me with some suggestions. My ultra specific niche favorite genre is: police procedural murder mystery, set in the UK, written by a woman.

Would love some more friends on here!

message 37: by Alis (new)

Alis | 2 comments Hello,

I love my single life and my home. I love my garden and country walks. I love the peace of being alone in the evenings and reading.

message 38: by Hazel (new)

Hazel | 1 comments Hi Everyone,

I'm Hazel. If I'm not working (in a water sports centre), I'm on the water, or in the water, (unintentionally a lot of the time) or reading. They're a strange lot, the on the water set. You can get soaked through on a water ski, yet should you fall in, the first thing asked when you come ashore is, "Get wet, then?"
My favourite books are thrillers that make good sense and books that I can learn from.
