Welcome Tina! Good luck on your dissertation. That's no joke. c:
I'm a huge contemporary reader (Adult, YA, childrens), but I love Fantasy as well and any genre with a sprinkle of romance. I also love reading comics and graphic novels.

I'm a fellow New Yorker as well...Harlem girl to be precise, living in the DMV, Where are you from? What are you currently reading?

I'm new here (technically). I've had a Goodreads account for years but wasn't active on it. This year, I'd like to make new book friends as well, and find new book recommendations to grow my library.
I'm from Philly, and currently reading a book by a YouTube author, and one by Terri McMillan

Hello,
I've only been active on my Goodreads account recently. I'm kinda new on Goodreads & looking for new book friends too.

Shree from Arkansas. I’ve been on Goodreads for awhile now. But I’m diving back into reading.
Currently my genres consist of murder mystery.
Would love to connect with others on here for new books/genre ideas.

I'm into: Self Help/Motivational/Spirituality, Contemporary Fiction, Black Women Authors, Memoir, Education, YA, and Beautifully Illustrated Picture Books.

Love various genres as well as audiobooks as much as real books and ebooks. Cheers to a new year of reading.

I'm reading Modern African Prose- an anthology of African Writers- by Richard Rive. The book is on my list- and was published in 1964

I'm about to try and finish and give it a chance but different bad...
a sci-fi dystopia future where black people are in power and now enslaved whites... it makes me uncomfortable. they are "ruling" just as bad as when we were enslaved. some colorism in play as well (darker skin equals higher power)
a lot of plot holes hard to get a good sense of what the author trying to say.

Hi Kamahra,
I read The Union also and I didn't like it. I thought it was going to be good because it was about Black people in rulership, that's what drew me in.
It didn't blow me away in the slightest, it turned out to be a rather typical role reversal story.
