Diana Green | 49 comments I've seen librarians say many times, here, that a series is not simply books that share a theme, like setting. In that case, my "Secret Realms" series should be removed, as that is all that the books have in common. They are set in the same second world fantasy land.

I was going to request that my new story, Miss Havelock & the Dragon be added to the series, but I see now, Secret Realms shouldn't be a Goodreads series at all, just an Amazon series, as shared setting is sufficient for their criteria.
Thank you, Diana Green

Before I remove the series, you mention them being set in the same fantasy land. Can you give more information about that?

Books that share world-building can be considered a series on Goodreads. If they just happen to be set in England (for example) it's not enough.

The books are set in a fantasy world that is similar to early Victorian England, only with hidden magical realms. There is an element of world-building that the books share in common, as there is a different religion in that world, different foreign lands etc. But the world-building is not a major aspect of the stories. The focus is on characters and relationships, with each book having different characters and a complete story arc of its own. They stand alone and can be read in any order.

If you think this constitutes a series on Goodreads, then I'd be very appreciative if you could add my new release Miss Havelock & the Dragon to the series on my author page. If you don't think this constitutes a series on Goodreads, then please remove the Secret Realms series from my author page. I'm fine with your decision, either way.

Thank you,
Diana Green

No they don't. There is a completely fresh set of characters with each book.

Duplicate request has been removed. To avoid confusion, please only post requests once. If a day or two have gone by with no reply, it's fine to bump your request up by responding to your own thread. Goodreads Librarians are volunteers, and some requests may take some time to get a reply.

If the books are all set in a common world, which is distinct and unique to them (so not "2001 Seattle"), that generally would constitute a series on Goodreads.

Since Secret Realms stories are set in the unique fantasy world of Cathra, it sounds like they do qualify as a series on Goodreads. Thank you for clarifying that. Would it be possible to please add Miss Havelock & the Dragon to my Secret Realms series? The author name needs an extra space added between Diana and Green to show up on my author page.

Thank you.
