Well, hello Jeanne! I'm pretty sure we all share your experience having trouble finding RL (real life) friends with any understanding - or interest - in JAFF. I've enjoyed your distinctive posts here on GoodReads for years and am so proud to count you among my online JAFF buddies! ❤️

We had one of the strictest set of rules of all countries during this pandemic and suddenly we can can carry on as we used to do.

Sam - I totally relate! I do NOT like making mistakes that I can't fix! (Maybe Sweden didn't count the statistics in the first place?)
Debbie, boy, I sure landed in the right place, because I didn't try multiple groups. I seem to think that Jeanne directed me here. Or maybe it was Sheila? I think it was Jeanne - and she told me that Sheila invited her.
Jeanne, is that right?

Jeanne, looks like you invited me to the group in 2017, because the's the first iteration of the group that I have.
Sophia, when did you begin this group?

I truly hope that some of the healthy practices continue. But I am really ready to be done. Best wishes for Ireland, truly!

I was never sorry I stayed at home with them. It made us a very close family.
We're all different.

LOL, Jeanne! I didn't even realize you hadn't done your intro yet. Yay for you being back and part of the party.

Nicole, you are so very welcome here. We (me) have all had times we felt like Mrs. Bennet and as antisocial as Mr. Darcy. But THAT is exactly why we need you in this group. :-) Because YOU compared your (whatever it was...cuz I didn't read it,) to characters from Pride & Prejudice. However it was you felt when you first posted, we'll have a ready shoulder to cry on, dump on, b____ on.

2015, I think. Been a while. :)
2015, I think. Been a while. :)

I'm often very curious about lots of things. What Austen character does that make me? ;-)

That's a blessing! I went to college for 6 years, taught for 3 years, and I've been a SAHM for 18 years. I too will never be sorry that I did so, but I'll tell you . . . COVID combined with being past the "cute" ages have made it difficult in many ways.

We have an autistic son who is in 6th grade, and think that's a possibility for him. Or a group home. Also quiet, except for when he's reciting lines from the script to a movie or a video game.

That's great! Some of my kids I could easily imagine staying home, while others, I just can't even imagine. :-)

My name is Loren and I decided to join this group to share my passion for Jane Austen with you all and because I missed you. In fact, I was part of this group nearly two/three years ago and even had a blog where I used to be part of blog tours; I was under the name of LorenDushku, maybe someone of you remember me.
I suddenly disappeared because I was under a severe depression and felt overwhelmed about everything, even reading my pile of books. I apologize for that.
The cause was mainly because of I was not able to find a job and felt a burden for the society and I was not able to live the life I wanted.
I’m from Naples, in Italy, but I moved to Scotland and I’m currently living in Edinburgh. I found a job here and even if it is still hard to live alone in another country I am feeling much better and decided to slowly start again with my hobbies.
My sister was the first one who introduced me to the world of Jane Austen, I read Pride and prejudice because of a bet with her and then fell in love with Jane Austen. I cannot say which is my favourite novel sometimes it is Emma, sometimes Persuasion or Pride and prejudice. I think every time I read them again I learn and discover something new.
I like reading, watching dramas, spending my free time with the people I love and eating sweets! I would like to travel more and to adopt a cat to keep me company.
I hope that I can be part of your “tribe” again here!

Sorry you had to suffer depression. But glad to have you with us again. With this COVID virus lasting so long and evolving with variants many are suffering from the isolation required to stay well. And many have lost jobs due to businesses having to close as they lost employees and customers. Hope reading allows you a little "escape" into pleasant tales. Welcome to our neighborhood.

Loren, welcome back! I'm so sorry you've experienced depression. I've never had clinical depression - have only experienced being depressed briefly, and it is awful. You can be assured that God loves you, and we will love you here as well. This group is very good at encouraging each other. I have never seen anyone be critical of another in this group! Which is amazing!

Woohoo, happy to have you back, Loren! Of course, you must join in our tribe of Austenesque book lovers and get cozy to chat books or whatever. :) Glad you were able to get back into the workforce and hopefully settle into your new home and surroundings. Fun that a bet got you into loving Austen.
Settle in and get comfortable. :)

Thank you for your warm welcome Sam! Here is beautiful! There is a lot of nature and bright colours, I just miss the sun during the winter!

You know when you see something and you can't unsee it? What is called when you start to read a story and you can't put it down fast enough, but the 'knowledge' is still there in your mind?
Argh!
I started a Dwiggie story - Particular Attachments https://www.dwiggie.com/derby/old_200...
(Thank you Jeanne)
and all I can scream is - my eyes, MY EYES!!!

Darcy had kept the couple apart, been in love with Lizzy, refused on his proposal, but ended up with Kitty!!!!!! I skimmed, I only skimmed I swear!
it ends with the Bingleys happy in love and expecting at Netherfield and Darcy proposing to Kitty. Blech!!!

Wait...wait...wait...what!? 😱

Like Sam, I skipped to the end.

I read this long ago and HATED it! Just NO! Don't read it.

OMG it's reputation precedes it! Dawn told me about being traumatized after reading a Jaff with Darcy marrying Kitty, I hope this is the only one out there with such a premiss.

Don't consider myself a P&P purist, but ODC Not getting their HEA in the end, doesn't sit well with me.

I do remember one but I can't recommend it, even if I could name it.
Lydia does the elope thing; FD brings her home but she needs to be away from her family. FD takes LB to Pemberley as a friend to GD. Eventually, he returns to Meryton to tell Elizabeth goodbye and goes back to Pemberley to marry Lydia.
EWWWW!

Hello again, Loren! I do remember when you were a regular here. I will join the chorus welcoming you back and empathizing with your struggles with depression. I experienced it for a while about 20 years ago, and I know how debilitated I felt until I got some help.
We're so happy to have you back. Please don't allow the massive number of Austenesque books or any of the speedy readers make you feel pressured to "keep up." Read at your own pace and just enjoy the fellowship here!
But good idea, I will contact the moderator. It isn't fair on the author.
