The First Book You Enjoyed Reading?

I'm new to GoodReads & thought I'd start a discussion for people to get to know each other. Cheesy I know but you don't have to comment!
The first book I couldn't get enough of was "Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry" by Mildred Taylor. I must have been about 13 & we were studying it at school.
I think it must have been the first harrowing book I read & I've loved Black History literature ever since.
I was also an avid Enid Blyton fan from a very early age & I'm now reading those same stories to my 8 year old in the vain hope she'll get the bug like me!
