Cat Johanson How'd you feel about the story, characters world?

Devyn I honestly loathed this book. I didn't hate the story, But I just really wasn't pulled in at all and found myself fighting to keep myself interested. I like the premise of the book and I really wanted to like it, I just couldn't force myself to stay interested and ended up not finishing it. I do know a lot of people enjoyed it and i'm sure, i'm the exception not the rule.

Nicole This book made me hate Snow even more than I already did. The book itself was hard to love considering I didn't love this character. However, the story itself if fantastically written and really helps to round out the trilogy and tell the reader more about Snow's life and why he is so awful to begin with. I also enjoyed the background information about the capital. I had many questions when reading the Hunger Games, and this book helped to answer some of those.

It's only because I also read "Ready Player Two" last year that this wasn't my least-favorite book of the year last year. The author reminded me in the worst ways that I hadn't really liked Mockingjay all that much either. Usually there's a good reason you don't put out a new book for an entire decade, and the reason here is that you don't have a good story to tell. The point where Lucy Gray leaves Snow is vague and really poorly written. Hard to build up to a moment and have it fizzle out.

Hattie I hoped for something more. I loved the introduction because it made sense to me, but I needed more information to click. I don't understand the romanticism at all. Probably never will. I kept praying that all of the romance was a deception and Lucy Grey was just manipulating him. I mean, she left without saying anything, so I figured she didn't like him in the first place. I mean, I feel like she was using him in the same way that Snow used her in the Hunger Games. As a form of escape, you know. That was the one notion that kept me interested throughout the book and film.

Aside than that, it was meh. I'm just upset since my favorite character died. Like, bruh, you had to kill Sejunas because I knew he was foolish, but I loved him. Anyway, I wish it was more focused on the lab part of the games rather than following the Hunger Games. I also don't like the concept of Snow being terrified of a song from a women who sings... you're telling me he has ptsd from a girl who sings.... I realize it's a Rebellion song, but it could've been portrayed in any manner, and we get it from Lucy Grey... mmm
