I originally read this book in 5th grade, so it's been quite a while, but I genuinely can say it deeply altered my perception of reality. Prior to the read, I was a very committed atheist. This book began to open the door to religion and spirituality for me. I recall it doing the same for my mother, which was pretty powerful as she was the one who demonized monotheistic religions to me, through stories of her being raised in a predatory church setting (won't specify so everyone still has their religious freedom :))
Anyway, this book follows a boys journey through spirituality and connecting with God as he experiences struggles and conflicts. It parallels Noah's Ark in a lot of ways. JUST READ IT IF YOU HAVEN'T!! I'LL EVEN SETTLE FOR YOU WATCHING THE MOVIE!
