Guy Morris (guymorris) | 27 comments First, as a thriller author, it am a little surprised there are so few threads on all of the great thrillers out there. Just sayin' I see other genres and thriller (I thought) was a popular genre. Oh well.

My favorite tropes are mixed. The categories you provide above are a bit of the cliche and older style in my view.

I think in terms of James Rollins, Dan Brown and I think in terms of a cross between political-techno-religious and for me that is the sweet spot.

Of the categories above, the treasure / ancient secrets is my favorite and I actually wrote one that list on BookTrib Best 25 books of 2021 and tagged it Indiana Jones meets Da Vinci code. So yes, I LOVE that style. Sadly, you don't see as much of it as we used to see, but to be honest most of the best secrets have been covered.
