Theme 323 - Precious metal - any track with silver or gold in the title - Fishy Jim
Theme 324 - It don't mean a thing if it ain't got that bling - any track with the name of a precious stone in the title (diamond, ruby, sapphire, emerald, etc) - Tim
Theme 325 - Wildcard Round 12
Theme 326 - Pun Me. Nom a punned song title or band (or even lyric if you have a punny one) and link to the original song. Eg Oreo Speedwagon, Sweet Cat Of Mine, Chive Talking. (Inspired by this pinterest.co.uk link: tomdeus/really-bad-puns-and-song-uses/) Doesn't need to be from that link, if you have your own. - Sera69

A few helpful links were provided on the noms thread, if you're in need of ideas:

Tim Franklin | 10949 comments Question for Helen. The BBC link above uses first names (rather than surnames) to catalogue solo performers, so for example, if I wanted to nom something by Sophie & Peter Johnston, would that be eligible here, under A-M for Johnston, or would I have to wait until part two, N-Z for Sophie?

Well spotted, Tim, I hadn't noticed that they'd listed them that way on that site. We'll stick with the traditional surnames way of doing these things. So, Sophie & Peter under "J" is fine.

theDuke | 6492 comments Hello folks.

This will appear very sudden folks, to which i apologise.

Could somebody else take over hosting themes as the new host please, i'm bowing out folks. Can't say much..but something has happened just today...and it's thrown my world upside down& i've no idea what to expect.

Very sorry.

message 16: by Val (new)

Val H. | 22144 comments I can take over Duke. Hope folks will bear with me while I'm still largely one handed over the next four weeks plus Christmas preparations will also have an impact. And the time difference. But I will manage.

I wish you all the support you need in dealing with your crisis.

Take care

x

Val

I might pop in from time to time..but for now...i'm taking a break from things.

Take care folks and hopefully i can return soon.

Val H. | 22144 comments Hi all, it's me from downunder. Apologies for the delay in putting up the playlist; today has been hectic, as are the next two days likely to be.

I can't edit the title but VOTING is now open. It will close around MIDNIGHT (your time) on SUNDAY, November 21.

We only have eight nominations this time around, so I think I'm correct in saying that we each get THREE votes to allocate. Maybe folk can have a think about the back end of the alphabet now (assuming Helen is going to add that as an upcoming theme) and, remember, she has given us some helpful links to assist:

https://www.youtube.com/c/Vibracobra2...

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_...

https://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/johnpeel...
****************************

When compiling the playlist, I can't add TheFoe's choice of The Jam. It's probably one of those titles that is available in the northern hemisphere only. I've added it but get the message "1 unavailable video is hidden". I hope it may still appear in the playlist when you come to view it, but if not the individual link is:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mGP2c...

The playlist is at:

https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list...

So I hope we get eight voters and maybe more. Off you pop.

Val H. | 22144 comments Well I think that's it. The witching hour on Sunday night has passed. There were 7 voters for our 8 nominations. It's hard to know whether the whole idea of the thread is waning, or the pre-Christmas malaise is setting in or whether folk just didn't have time to peruse the various possibilities that this theme offered. But we do have a result. Tech takes it out with 11 votes for Misty In Roots. Brass gets the silver for Aswad and TheFoe, Collette and KJS squeeze up on the 3rd place podium - they each got 6 votes for The Jam, The Housemartins and The Jesus and Mary Chain. Congratulations everyone. I shall have to see if Duke's stash of wooden spoons has arrived. Tim and I get one each as no one had any special love for Calexico or Sophie & Peter Johnston.
