Ariana took her seat in the Amity section. Today was the choosing ceremony, the day to choose what she was going to be for the rest of her life. She was nervous and didn't know what to choose and the test didn't help make her decision easier. Her results were inconclusive and gave her the results: Amity, Abnegation, Dauntless. Ariana listened as names were called and people chose their new faction.
Hunter sat in the Dauntless section, aimlessly whistling as the members were sorted into their fitting faction. He watched as the new dauntless initiates approached whistling and cheering for them. He made not of each, since he was one of the instructors. The head instructor to be certain.
Ariana took a deep breath. Her name was finally called. She stood up and gave her mother a hug before walking down the steps to the stage. She stepped onto the stage and picked up the small blade. She made a small cut on her hand and stood in front of the bowls. Ariana held her hand above the dirt for Amity. Before the blood could drop into the bowl, she quickly moved her hand to the burning coals of Dauntless. The blood dripped onto the coals, sizzling.
A row of shouts and cheer arose as a Amity girl had officially chosen Dauntless. Hunter watched her with amusement. He didnt get Amity kids very often.
Ariana bit her lower lip nervously as she stepped off the stage and walked to the Dauntless section. She was greeted by a few members of the faction as she took a seat. More people kept choosing until there was nobody left. The choosing ceremony was over. She stood up with the rest of her new faction.
Hunter stood up, jumping down to the ground and walking calmly to the train tracks. He waited for the train, and hearing it come, got ready and jumped on.
Ariana moved quickly, keeping up with the other Dauntless. She got to the train tracks and waited for the train. As it passed, she ran alongside before jumping on.
They reached Dauntless Headquarters, and he jumped off, glancing to see if the initiates made it. A younger boy, slipped, clinging to the railing. When no one was watching, he helped the boy up, putting a finger to his lips signaling the boy to remain silent about that. He felt a smile form when he saw the initiates peering down the building into the place he called home.
Ariana jumped out of the train, landing on her knees. She quickly stood and brushed the rocks off of her clothing before walking toward the edge near all the other initiates.
The initiates gathered at the edge. He clapped his hands together calling for attention. "Listen up. Wanna be in Dauntless? Jumping in and out of trains isnt all that it is. Gotta jump. Whos gonna do it?" Several of the transfer initiates looked at him like he was insane. He just smiled and raised his eyebrow, waiting.
Ariana took a deep breath. 'Time to prove you chose the right place,' she thought to herself. "I'll do it," She spoke up, "I'll jump." She walked toward the edge.
"Flower girl?" He asked with surprise. "Go ahead then. Jump." He said challengingly, trying to see if she would cower.
Ariana stepped up onto the ledge. She peered over the edge. All she could see was a hole that was dark, she had no clue what was below it. She took a deep breath and stepped off the edge. She spread her arms out as she fell, hoping she wasn't going to die.
He grinned, seeing her jump. She would land in the net anyway. He went next, letting the other initiates follow him. He got off, helping the girl. "Whats your name, Flower girl?" He asked after.
Ariana paused, debating if she wanted to keep her name, her name that reminded her of her past. She got of the net before finally answering. "Ari, my name is Ari."
"Our first jumper. Ari. Note that boys." He said nodding to her. He helped the other initiates who came falling down, before he was tapped on his shoulder. His best friend, Jake was there. The other training conductor. They post fist bumped and hugged, before continuing.
Ari moved out of the way. She watched as the other initiates jumped, one by one. She smiled and ran a hand through her hair.
"Okay initiates. Line up." Jake said sternly, anylazing each intiate. He was the more serious one, but Hunter was the more ruthless one. "So you jumped off a building, this isnt the end of it. You want to be in Dauntless you have to prove you belong here." Hunter explained, walking along the line of Initiates.
Ari stood lined up to the other initiates. She listened closely. She wondered what they were going to make the initiates do next.
Hunter watched everyone, expecting one to speak out. None seemed to so he continued. "You will be induced into hard training." He said as Jake nodded along.
Ari listened closely. She silently hoped that she had made the right choice by picking Dauntless. She glanced around the room they were in.
"For now, i will show you were you will be staying. Rest well. Today is your one day of rest. Tommorow, we will go into further detail." Hunter said beginning to walk, as Jake took on the stragglers.
The other Dauntless members nodded at Hunter and Jake, who were highly respected. Making his way to their room, he opened the door and walked into going into a room with several beds. "You are all to sleep here. Try not to kill each other." Hunter said with a smirk.
Hunter saw the girl, the flower girl smile and felt himself smile lightly. He turned away quick enough, and exited the room leaving them to be.
Alexandria had transferred from Erudite to dauntless, knowing she had made the right choice. She waited until the instructor, Hunter, was gone. She smiled at the girl beside her, the first jumper. "Im Alex. You had guts being the first. " she said with a friendly nudge.
