Isabella Boullion | 9 comments Books similar to 7th circle by Tate James and Rising Queen by Alisha Williams. The women have tortured past but rise up to be a leader even though they are blood thirsty they protect what is theirs. Ideally the book should have some romance.

Amber (amberwallace) | 23 comments I think you might enjoy Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas.

It is often listed in the YA section of bookstores and libraries but it does contain some adult content. It is a 7 book series, and there is a prequel as well.

Lynn (lynnbar) | 126 comments I'm sorry but I haven't read the books that you mentioned but I have read Morgan Howell's Queen of the Orcs Trilogy that starts with King's Property: things are really bad for the heroine at the start of the book and almost the only hope of escape seems to be death however she finds unusual allies and rises to become a leader and, yes, there is some romance.

In Maria V Snyder's Study series that starts with Poison Study, the heroine, at the beginning of the book is in a dungeon, facing the death penalty when she is offered the chance to live (possibly only for a while) as a food taster. There is friendship and romance and, although she does not become a leader of people in the conventional sense, she is a strong, likeable, powerful character, a definite hero.
