Alphonsemacd The story is something along the lines of there being cheating and the boy without a father who is there on scholarship somehow has to lie but tells the truth and is then ostracized. I remember being told it was based on a real case from the 1950s? in England. For some reason I associate Osborn with with book. Perhaps the name of one of the characters

Rainbowheart | 28705 comments Oooof, this sounds so familiar.

I think it might have been made into a movie in the '90s?

SamSpayedPI | 2306 comments I immediately thought of the film "Another Country" (which was made into a movie in 1984), but it wasn't based on a book (James Baldwin's Another Country is unrelated to the movie).

The movie was based on a play, which was based on the life of Guy Burgess.

Great. Glad you found your book, Alphonsemacd.

Fyi, there's a movie "The Winslow Boy" starring Jeremy Northam, etc. and directed by David Mamet (1999).
