Janet Ruth | 33 comments How much do you know about the topic of Christian worldview? Take my short quiz and find out at https://janetruth.com/worldview_quiz/

Christine L. Henderson (christinelhenderson) | 92 comments An interesting quiz. At first I thought you were referring to how the general population defines a Christian worldview. That is at odds with the Bible, but many Christians are more concerned about being culturally relevant.

Hi Christine. Yes, I found that many Christians don't really understand how to live out what they say they believe, so their personal worldview doesn't always reflect the Christian worldview they claim. My book helps Christians sort through their beliefs to make sure they are consistent and biblical.

Shirley Robinson (shirleyrobinson) | 3 comments That was interesting. I found when I started interacting online more, that “Christian worldview,” doesn’t have a consistent definition even among professed believers.

Christine L. Henderson (christinelhenderson) | 92 comments Yes, to some it's merely believing Christ was born and he is God with other faiths equal to Christianity and as relevant to gaining heaven.

Thanks for taking the quiz, Shirley! I hope more people will want to learn about the differences in Christian worldviews, because our worldview affects the way we act in the world - and the way we are perceived.

David Knott | 33 comments This is an important topic that I've been considering recently. Thanks for raising it Janet. I suspect that a "Christian Worldview" is too broad a term to be useful in our day. I have started talking about 3 Christian World views:

Biblical Christianity
Cultural Christianity
Religious Christianity

I've written an article recently that suggests the following definition:

"Biblical Christianity is a world view that makes the Bible the ultimate authority for all matters relating to God, spirituality and living as a disciple of Jesus Christ."

It can be surprisingly difficult to distinguish between thinking that is really cultural rather than truly Biblical, particularly around issues like politics and identity.

If you would like to read the article (it is evangelistic in nature), you can read it here:

I've just taken your quiz Janet. It is very penetrating. I love your heart to help Christians live out what they believe!

may jump back in with additional thoughts and or questions.

Thank you, David. It was hard to craft a quiz like this, so it's good to hear that people are getting something out of it.

Thank you, Scott. I see that you work in prison ministry. I would love to hear what you think of my book. Would you be interested in receiving a pdf review copy?

I enjoyed your article, David, especially this line: "The parable assumes the elephant does not speak." (If anyone reading this wants to know what that means, you'll have to follow David's link and read the article too.)

I saw at the end of the article that you have a new book in the works. I followed you here on Goodreads so I can get updates.

Yes questionnaires like this are hard to do. I liked the way your responses complemented the questions.
Are you collecting data (anonymously) on the answers you get. If so it would be interesting to know the percentages :)

Thanks Janet. I'm about half way through and haven't publicised it at all yet (except in this article). You have published a number of books. Do you have any advice on when to start publicising a new book?

Thanks David

The best way to publicize your book is to build an online following, and it's never too early to do that. You can have an author page on Facebook, or work to get followers on other social media, but your best bet is having your own email list that people can subscribe to. I get subscriptions through my website often times by offering something free if someone signs up. The freebie can be a pdf excerpt from your book or a quiz they take or some other kind of download. I did a song playlist as a giveaway for my Bible study.

David Knott | 33 comments Thanks Janet, I have an author page on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/davidknott.a...), but I don't have a website yet. I keep wondering on the cost v benefit of a website. I use Medium as a pseudo website / blog that doesn't cost anything. What is the relative benefit of an author website compared to Facebook etc. from your experience?

I can see that developing a mailing list is important. I'll look at the different ways I can generate that. Thanks.

To be honest, I haven't had a lot of success with any marketing, but I find Facebook to be very unhelpful. Facebook keeps changing their rules, so the only way you can get your posts seen by more than a few people is to do paid advertising. And you can get kicked off Facebook and lose all your contacts there. That's why having your own email list is so important.

I love having my own website that I can send people to for information on my books and speaking. Bluehost is having a Black Friday sale this week, so it's a good time to reserve a domain name even if you don't create your website right away. Other web hosts probably have sales this week too.

David Knott | 33 comments Thanks Janet, that is very helpful! I'll check out Bluehost.
